Just started listening to the new Stratovarius album "Polaris".
Wow, I actually recognize the band again! For their self-titled 2005 album, they had changed into something weird I didn't feel comfortable with at all.
If you ask me, leaving was the best thing Tolkki could have done for Koti and the others. Now, they can be themselves and once again create wonderful Power Metal ^_^
So far, the new CD sounds really good. It's certainly much more like "classic" Strato, with lots of giutar/key solos and Timo singing the way he's supposed to sing.
Awesome. Missed you, guys <3 One day, I'll SO catch a gig of yours, also to check out how short your vocalist REALLY is *lol*

ETA:

:D :D
For some reason, I just couldn't make it to a Top Ten. WTF...?!
Anyway, here we go!

Avantasia - The Scarecrow
"The scarecrow" is one of the best songs Tobi ever wrote, maybe even beating "Sign of the cross". Otherwise - great story, tons of awesome tracks and cool guest singers. That's exactly what everyone wants from an Avantasia release, and we didn't get disappointed <3

Sabaton - The Art of War
Simply stunning. I have no idea how they manage to keep getting ebtter and better with each goddamned CD, but somehow, they do. Anthem-like Power Metal and just one topic when it comes to lyrics. But hey - Who cares about that anway? *lol*

Edguy - Tinnitus Sanctus
I... still don't really know what to think of this one. It's got some strong songs, but several other tracks almost bored me to death. I know I said I wasn't gonna join the league of people who want Tobi and his gang to do anthter "Hellfire Club", but recently, I've nearly been chaning my mind... *sigh*

DragonForce - Ultra Beatdown
You either like them or you don't. I mainly listen to them because of their cheesy and unique style and because their music is just fast, silly fun. Definitive hghtlight of the CD: "Strike of the ninja" =)

Lordi - Deadache
Not quite as good as "The Arockalypse", but I still found myself getting quite addicted to it fairly quickly. And their lyrics are still amusing as hell and never fail to entertain me ^_^

Revolution Renaissance - New Era
Yeah, yeah I know. Tolkki has been writing the same somgs for twenty-five years. I still like it, so there ;P And it's got Tobi and Michi guesting, so stop complaining *lol* BTW, the next RR album called "Age of Aquarius" seems to be scheduled for a March 9, 2009 release. Neat!

1) Have your music library ready.
2) Choose one song from your music library whose title starts with the first letter (or number) of your screen name.
3) Repeat this process with each successive letter (or number) in your screen name until you run out of letters (or numbers).
4) Post up your results.
5) BONUS POINTS: Upload your mix (whether it's individual songs or a .zip of all the songs) and include the mix in your post.
6) MORE BONUS POINTS: Add the line around the 1:10 mark of at least five songs.

So, now, you too can explore the horrifying world that is my music taste XD As you can see, it is all over the place, like it's always been...

(J) Judas at the opera - Edguy [Superheroes EP]
(E) Everlasting song [Japanese edition) - FictionJunction ASUKA [Erementar Gerad]
(S) Spirit of the night - Daniel (SEB 188]
(S) Sign of the cross - Avantasia [The Metal Opera Part 1]
(Y) You only tell me you love me when you're drunk - Pet Shop Boys [Drunk single]

(B) Before dawn daybreak - fripSide [Split Tears]

And, because I just can't seem to get enough, I did the same with what's officially become my second nickname:

(Q) Question at me - HAYASHIBARA Megumi [Fuwari]
(U) Upstairs - Wolfsheim [Dreaming Apes]
(E) Eagle - Gamma Ray [New World Order]
(E) Edge - access [Best selection]
(N) Nur einen Kuss - die ärzte [Jazz ist anders]

(O) Out of the dark - Falco [Out of the Dark (Into the Light)]
(F) Fallen to pieces - Helloween [Gambling with the Devil]

(G) Gas gas gas - Manuel [SEB 181]
(E) Egao - WADA Koji [Digimon]
(E) Escapist - Nightwish [Bye bye Beautiful single]
(K) Kimi ga tame - Suara [Utawarerumono]
(S) Sprial galaxy - HAMADA Mari [Reflection ~Axiom of the two Wings~]

Ah, that was fun. Actually, I could've easily posted two songs per letter. Maybe I'll re-do this thing some day...
Anywho. Downloads. I've put all the songs in one file because I'm a lazy bum. You can grab it here (right click + "save as") (.zip/86.8 MB, all songs in .mp3/128 kbps).
If anyone just wants any one of the songs without having to get the whole archive, just tell me. I'll gladly upload it for you!

... No, I'm not doing the 1:10 mark thing. Even I am not that crazy ^_~

PS: Be glad I spared you "Belleville rendez-vous". And that's just because I forgot :P
... I just have to mention this.

"Tinnitus Sanctus" cover.

Mmh. Interesting. To me, this looks like they've got some sort of "Back to the roots" thingy going on, especially after the "Rocket Ride" comic style. And remembering what Tobi said about the songs so far, that might not be totally wrong.

So, jessybxx, your LiveJournal reveals...

You are... 2% unique (blame, for example, your interest in kai taschner) and 25% herdlike (partly because you, like everyone else, enjoy yaoi). When it comes to friends you are normal. In terms of the way you relate to people, you are keen to please. Your writing style (based on a recent public entry) is conventional.

Your overall weirdness is: 19

(The average level of weirdness is: 28.
You are weirder than 41% of other LJers.)

Find out what your weirdness level is!

Eh. Right now, I'm torn between being happy about the whole "unique" things (since that's what I'm trying to be) and being sorry for poor Soulbro since apparently, no one on LJ's interested in him apart from me ;_;

I'm having far, far too much fun with the new DragonForce album right now. Their songs still sound the same, but unfortunately, "the same" in this case means "really great to listen to". Eek.

Wacken hasn't even started yet and [livejournal.com profile] silicondreams and me are already planning the next gigs we'll want to attend. I know, we're crazy ;)
Ideally, my schedule for the rest of the year migiht end up looking like this:

October 18 - Axxis - Bredenborn
(I've never heard of that town. Naturally, I have no idea how to get there or if I'll ever manage to get back home afterwards. I do know how to get the ticket, but that's it. But I'm sure I'll figure something out... Gotta see them whenever I can...)

November 8 - Sabaton - Bochum
(Pretty close to here [certainly closer than bloody Cologne], also, the tickets are almsot free [12 Euros]. And since we'll probably miss them at Wacken [Avantasia meet'n'greet at the same time], I do want to try and take this extra chance of hearing some of the new album live. )

November 16 - Sonata Arctica - Munich
(They're playing Oberhausen as well, but since Munich is one of the rare occasions to see Soulbrother [most Metal bands hardly play there AT ALL], I'd rather go there. Ah, what the hell, maybe I'll do Oberhausen as well...)

Right now, the German TV station ProSieben is airing teasers for this year's wok world championships.
And guess what the background music is?
"Lost in space". No kidding.
I mean, ProSieben is known for supporting Metal acts (Nightwish, Within Temptation, you name 'em), but Avantasia? Woah.
Granted, misplacing (and subsequently canceling) the Doctor was pretty damn stupid. But they still have their positive sides.

BTW, German Who DVDs due in ten days. Whee~!

Also... new band among my list of faves (see "current music"). More about that tomorrow? You bet ^_~

Okay, after one listening session, I can definitely say that I like the new Avantasia stuff (fave songs so far: "Lay all your love on me", "The story ain't over" and "Scary eyes" - subject to change!).
However, another aspect of the two EP set deserves a huge kick in the ass of whoever had the idea. Of course, I'm talking about the bonus stuff, or rather, the technical aspect. That media player thing is just terrible. It seems people are having major trouble with it left and right, at least that's what I gather from the forums.
It does work for me, but for some reason, the "Lost in space" video clip doesn't run smoothly. I couldn't believe it when I played it last night. Hell, it's just a clip. Who programmed that player?! And if it's a problem of the video itself, who encoded it?! Geez...
Also, the whole implementation makes it impossible to get the videos and pictures from the discs as they're saved in a weird way that makes it impossible to access them without the player. Great... not :|
So, a big thumbs up for the tunes, but a huge "Booo" for the extras section.
On the other hand, the new pictures are... nice. Mmmmh, Tobi :D~~~

[livejournal.com profile] yamasagi is currently on the way to pick up my stuff.
My stuff, as in both of the Avantasia EPs, the new 'Ray album... and that goddamned Java book *growls at Java*
Anyway, we also bought additional cards for "The Eye of Judgment" so now we can play against each other =) ... and Yama might actually have a chance to win against me. He only beat the computer once out of like, twenty games. I guess you need a lot of experience to get really good at it. Heh. Can't wait to try out my deck (I decided to get the fire element one) against his mixed bunch of cards. Yay! Role playing! We're such utter geeks! ^_^;;; *cough*
Finally, I got "The Order of the Phoenix" which was released yesterday at the price of 9 Euros (O_o). So we'll be watching that tonight (in English, thankfully. I mean, the dubs are okay, but I still prefer the real thing).
Sooo, good weekend ahead even though my cold has somewhat come back. Ah, who cares. Gonna have FUN now ^_^

PS:>/B> I haven't forgotten about writing an entry about my new laptop. And I'll get to that eventually - I just dunno when. But I will, promise!

That meme is awesome. It's fun to imagine the people doing the stuff it says *snickers* [/rather bored, hence easily amused]

There just was a teaser for some new TV series, and the background music was "Amaranth". But that's not surprising since ProSieben (one of the three major private TV channels) is kinda notorious for advertising and supporting Metal bands. They campaigned hugely for Edguy a couple of times. I wonder what music they'll use once they start running trailers for Doctor Who... if ever ;_;

Finally, a scary piece of news (seen at [livejournal.com profile] nebelkraehes [GJ only, I think], thank you ^^)
Notes near Body Parts in Belgium Linked to Death Note
Uh-oh. Knowing the German media, they'll be banning manga and anime next. Provided this event actually gets through to them. We'll see.

- Today, I spent six and a half hours manually adding 401 blog entries to my soon-to-be new German blog. I had deleted them by accident some time ago. Now, the blog holds all my entries since September 2003 =)

- I tried out LJ's new customizing area. I hate to say it, but it's lovely. And while I was at it, I applied a new layout to my dear, old ElJay. Click here to see it. Black and simple, I guess ^_^;;; However, I still need to redo my user info and have a look at layouts for the other journals (JF, IJ, GF). Oh my.

- These days, Tenchi tends to come out of the litterbox with litter sticking to his butt.
And when I hold him to wipe it off, he tries to snap at me. That'ss so adorable, my angry longcat, with his little white pointy baby teeth <3
I'm sure Tenchi keeps thinking "That's no fair, mummy! Can't you at least act like you're scared instead of going 'Awwww'? every bloody time?"
Uh... no. Because you're just too cute *snuggles black fluffy panther*

- I've been listening to Nightwish's new album since last week and I seriously think it's their best one so far. Now I have another reason to believe firing Tarja was the best thing they could do ;) And I really hope that people will get past all the "Anette is not Tarja" (Of course she isn't, and that's great!) and "Nightwish will never be the same again" (Again, that's new a good thing, too) and start recognizing "Dark Passion Play" for what it is - a brilliant Metal album that expands Nightwish's sound into several directions while still maintaining - and improving - a lot of familiar elements.
A new interview with Tobi has just been added to the Avantasia web site.
I still can't quite find the right words to express how happy his words made me once again.
All that gushing and raving about how beautiful the new material is, and how he doesn't care if people think releasing two EPs is crazy as long as people get great stuff for their money... that's our Tobi alright, and I'm ready to punch anyone in the face who says he's changing just because he's wearing black eyeliner on the promo pics.

... and now over-emotional lil' me's gotta go blow her nose ^_^;;;

I can't believe I managed to miss this.
From the official site and forum, respectively:
Due to the acquisition of the Sanctuary Group by the Universal Group Gamma Ray have ended their contract with Sanctuary and signed a new contract with SPV Records in Hannover, Germany.

The new album “Land Of The Free Part II” will be released on November 16 2007 by SPV. The CD is completely recorded and actually Tommy Hansen works on the final mix in his Area 51 studio. Last week the band made a photoshooting at the Zeppelinfeld in Nuremberg and also finished the work on the album cover.

I'm nearly crying right now. I really am.

This seems to be the tracklist, but apparently, the order of the songs isn't final:
1. Rising Again 0:28
2. To Mother Earth 5:09
3. Empress 6:22
4. Rain 5:20
5. Into the Storm 3:45
6. When the World 5:43
7. From the Ashes 5:30
8. Leaving Hell 4:20
9. Real World 5:44
10. Hear Me Calling 6:45
11. Opportunity 7:15
12. Insurrection 11:30

The CD has a total running time of about 65 minutes which is plenty of stuff for our moolah, I guess XD
Hell, this fall is gonna be great ^___^

... the search for digital evidence of Agglutination 2007.

Videos!! )
Just now, I was looking at his website's new starting page. Well, it took me a moment to realize it's indeed him.
And I hear a lot of people are getting really concerned about the changer of look'n'all.
My two cents:
1. People change. That's okay. You can't expect someone to keep a certain look just to avoid possible complainers. And as we know, Tobi has always been one to do controversial stuff (McDonald's chart show appearances, anyone? Hasn't hurt them yet, AFAIK...)
2. Even if Tobi changes his look, who would actually believe that his character would be affected in any way? I don't mind a darker theme/style, as long as he stays the smart and incredibly funny guy he is. Which he will. Goddammit, this is Tobias Sammet, not some casting boy band singer who twists and turns according to the general public's taste *fumes*

Oh my, this feels like "A Defense of Edguy" all over again. Maybe someone remembers that... or not. Too long ago, I s'ppose. Gotta dig it out again, 'twas one of my better pieces of non-fiction ;)

And... I can't help it... he looks damn hot in that pic on there. Want more soon, pklskthx.. My good ol' crush on him is in full blaze once again.
*points at pic and shouts* I. Want. That. Now!!!

October 19, 2007.

Also, Wacken 2008.
Seems a bunch of Rockfic-ers will drag themselves over there next year, including my sorry-ass self.
We should totally get together, what say you? =)

Finally, something I found at the Wacken site. I haven't seen it anywhere else and it wasn't on the English version of the page. Here goes:
Apparently, Tobi was supposed to give a press conference at Wacken on Saturday. However, in the morning, he had to be rushed to hospital to get his appendix removed.
Awww, poor baby. I hope he gets well soon ;_;

Sonata Arctica (Cologne, November 7): 22.75€
Nightwish (Oberhausen, December 29): 42.85€

What?! Is Tuomas trying to bloody buy Finland? Call me greedy, but that's a bit much, no? O_O
I'd rather wait for Edguy's next tour. Or check who else is planning on traveling the country.
Annette is so dead cute, I love her voice and would really like to go to one oif their gigs. But at this price? No wai.

Ah, well. I have three events planned for the next half year, whichi is waaay more than what I usually do.
Lesse, there's...

August 11 - Gamma Ray (Agglutination Festival, Potenza, Italy) (with [livejournal.com profile] silicondreams ^__^)
November 7 - Sonata Arctica (Live Music Hall, Cologne) (with me, meself and I *lol*)
January 13 - Helloween/Gamma Ray/Axxis/someone else (Turbinenhalle, Oberhausen) (with [livejournal.com profile] silicondreams again - Yep, she's coming here ^____^)

Another cool thing is that from October on, for me, all of public transport in the Ruhr area will be free. Yay for students' ticket >:D

So, I told you I got an answer from Mobilcom, right?
They said they're sending me a subscription renewal offer containing phones from their current collection. Via snail mail, of course.
Which basically means that I won't get my new phone in May, but instead... next week ^___^
(And it proves that asking still helps a lot.)

I think they sent the offer on either Wednesday or Thursday so I've been waiting for it ever since.
When there still wasn't anything in the mailbox today, I was starting to get both confused and angry about it. Then, [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi suggested they might have sent the bloody thing to my old address. I told him I had already changed my address on their site. But he said that doesn't matter since they have different departments. Well, I called mum asking her whether there was a letter for me. She checked and guess what? It was there. WTF? Idiots =_=
I asked mum to scan the letter and send it via mail. Now I'm waiting for her to do that which might take a few hours since right now, they're sitting outside lazing around. And I doubt she'd wanna turn on her computer in the middle of a hot and sunny afternoon.
At least the letter DID arrive and I'll get it some time today. And then, I'll send it back top them by fax.

Dear God of Metal, please let the offer feature a N73, pretty pretty please *hopes* Actually, I explicitly told them that I'm interested in that model so I suppose it will.
Ah, I hate waiting *waits*

PS: Jiro has the puffiest cheeks in the world. He beats every toddler hands down ^_^;;;

PPS: We got "Snakes on a Plane". I hope we're gonna watch it tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi not to faint during the movie since he has the most rabid snake phobia I've ever encountered O_O;;;

PPPS: The new Kotipelto album is already out in Finland so there was a torrent today. And... holy shit, it's unbelievable. Track #1 killed me ded within three seconds, which is a rarity even for me. Read: Check it out, pronto!!
Just for the heck of it!

Kotipelto - Serenity Click! [320 kbps / 3:31 / 5.58 MB]

Title track from the upcoming (April 20) album. I know, I know, most of you don't like Kotipelto and/or Stratovarius. But I don't really mind them. And "Serentiy" is a nice song. Pretty simple but decent to listen to. And it reminds me of "Take me away" which is certainly a good thing.
I haven an inkling that I'll like the new CD quite a bit ^_^

Sonata Arctica - Paid in full Click! [320 kbps / 4:29 / 7.39 MB]

And a sneak preview of "Unia" (I already listened to the whole thing once, but I won't do it again until May 25, promise!!). This is the single that will be preceding the full CD (single release date: April 25).
Yeah, well. They sure didn't choose the best track for the single release. Believe me, there's stuff on there that did blow me away, but this wasn't quite it. But then, I didn't expect them to write a second "Don't say a word" anyway. We'll see. It's a good album.

I just did a bit of research and noticed that I'll likely be able to get a smartphone in November. Okay, I do still love my faithful 6320i but... OMG smartphone O_o
And then, [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi is planning to get one, too, and I really wanna keep up the competition there *lol*

Hm. The way things look right now, I hopefully will end up with an N73.
You can't get it at 1€ yet, at least not with one of the cheaper subscriptions, but things usually change dramatically within a couple of months.
3.2 mega pixels (!!!), a Zeiss lens (OMFG), a flash for god's sake, the whole PDA/office deal, it runs Symbian and... shiiit.... *faints*
Also, they finally managed to make the memory cards hot swappable. No more taking the whole phone apart to change the card ^_^
Wow, what a piece of electronics.
I think I gotta adress the guy by calling him "-sama" O_O;;;

Also, new Koti album out on the 20th. I already heard the single "Sleep well" and the title track "Serenity". The latter one is hands down awesome. Mmh, lotsa good stuff this year ^_^
