No, this isn't the story about my new phone. I have to tell you something else first because it's just too infuriating and stupid to pass it up.
Listen!

Like I said on Twitter, the moron from GLS (German parcel service) told me he couldn't find our house so he'd already sent another parcel back the other day.
I was like "Um... okay" but at the same time thoguht "Crap, that might have been the brake fluid for his model car [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi has been desperately waiting for since last week".
So I took my parcel and called [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi, telling him what happened. He wrote to the shop he ordered the brake fluid from and they advised him to check GLS's online tracking serive.
When we did that, this is what we saw:

Uh... wait... what?!?

According to this, the parcel bastard couldn't contact us when he arrived at the house (that doesn't exist :P) and left notification cards. Um, I was at home (and since it was 6 in the evening, [livejournal.com profile] yamasagiwas, too) and even if he had just been too lazy to walk the stairs, we never received any of those cards. And then, on May 4, the guy suddenly decides the address doesn't exist after all?! What in the holy mother of crap is going on?? If you ask me, he's just making things up to hide his own inability to do his bloody job >:O
Needless to say, we're both angry as hell. All of the other parcel companies (DHL, Hermes, UPS and so on) always arrive at our place just fine. Also, it's not like the house is hidden or anything. We're number 1 which is right next to #3 and across from #2 so where the hell is the goddamn problem?!
The guy from the shop told us he'll call GLS tomorrow and ask what the fuck they've been doing. We'll see what's gonna happen next. Man...

Anyone else on there annoyed by the goddamn Follow Firday thing?
I just decided to un-follow anyone whose updates just consist of name lists, no matter how nice they are otherwise.
Sorry, but I just don't want my timeline to get clogged with meaningless messages like that.
To me, Twitter is a tool for communication and fun and I don't want to have it misused as a virtual pissing contest "Tee hee, I gots more followarz than u, suckas" kinda thing.
End of announcement.

I'm currently installing the new Nero 9 on both of my laptops. The setup is still running here on Hikaru. On Rick, I think it took more than an hour O_o That's more than Vista itself! Jeez...
Suppose it's because it comes with a gazillion of extra programs apart from the burning application itself. Not that I'll ever need most of them... Yeah, I could've unchecked them at the beginning of the setup, but I hate browsing through a list of dozens of entries, sub-entries and sub-sub-entries, selecting what to have and what not, without really knowing what all of those things actually do. Also, I do have enough HDD space to hold the crap so I might as well check it out. And who expects a CD/DVD burning suite to take longer to setup than the operating system it's running on anyway?!
Did I mention the custom install takes up more than 1 GB of HDD space?
Oh, and it also seizes a ton of multimedia file extensions that I'm expecting to have to reset manually. Greedy bastard.
At least it seems to work alright...
Damn, I need empty DVDs. Again.

ETA: Apparently, this moron of a burning suite is also far too stupid to uninstall its own predecessor *headdesk*

Would you please kindly consider not resetting my display options each time I update you?!
That includes hiding the audiobooks and applications category as well as making that annoying Genius sidebar show up again and again.
I don't need a plugin to tell me which songs to listen to. And I do appreciate being able to access my audio plays and games, kthxbai.
At least you keep my columns the way they were. But that's not saying much, and we both know that.
So, get a grip, you bloody assortment of 0s and 1s. If not, I might consider swapping you for one of the alternative third-party applications after all.
You have been officially warned.

Yours, pissed pff,

As you probably know by now, LiveJournal has discontinued new basic accounts; the only two options are a paid account or a plus account. [livejournal.com profile] beckyzoole has proposed this:

The one-day content strike is on for this Friday, March 21, from midnight GMT to midnight GMT.

For 24 hours, we will not post or comment to LJ. Not in our own journals, not in communities. Not publicly, privately, or under friends-lock.

This is a protest that will have long-lasting effects, showing up forever in the daily posting statistics.

This is a protest that will not harm LJ in the long run, as leaving LJ might do.

This is a protest that will demonstrate the power of community, as all users unite to support Basic users and the concept of adfree space.

This is a protest that will educate the new owners that LJ is driven by user-created content.

How Can I Help?

DO post about this in your own LJ.
DO post and comment about it in appropriate communities.
DO remember that it's based on Greenwich Mean Time, which may not be your local time.
DO turn off LoudTwitter and your RSS feeds for 24 hours.
DO feel free to friend [livejournal.com profile] beckyzoole for updates, and defriend when the strike is over.
DON'T forget to get permission from community mods before making an off-topic post or comment about the strike.
DON'T be spammy with your posts or comments about the strike.

These are the points we want to make through the strike:

# Restore basic accounts for new account creation.

# Inform users before any change to the site that affects how we use the site or demands on our resources.

# Run change proposals by the Advisory Board and take their advice into account before implementation of any change.

# Homophobia, misogyny, and racism must not be a part of the decision making processes about appropriate content of the site, including what user interests are deemed appropriate.

- Today, I spent six and a half hours manually adding 401 blog entries to my soon-to-be new German blog. I had deleted them by accident some time ago. Now, the blog holds all my entries since September 2003 =)

- I tried out LJ's new customizing area. I hate to say it, but it's lovely. And while I was at it, I applied a new layout to my dear, old ElJay. Click here to see it. Black and simple, I guess ^_^;;; However, I still need to redo my user info and have a look at layouts for the other journals (JF, IJ, GF). Oh my.

- These days, Tenchi tends to come out of the litterbox with litter sticking to his butt.
And when I hold him to wipe it off, he tries to snap at me. That'ss so adorable, my angry longcat, with his little white pointy baby teeth <3
I'm sure Tenchi keeps thinking "That's no fair, mummy! Can't you at least act like you're scared instead of going 'Awwww'? every bloody time?"
Uh... no. Because you're just too cute *snuggles black fluffy panther*

- I've been listening to Nightwish's new album since last week and I seriously think it's their best one so far. Now I have another reason to believe firing Tarja was the best thing they could do ;) And I really hope that people will get past all the "Anette is not Tarja" (Of course she isn't, and that's great!) and "Nightwish will never be the same again" (Again, that's new a good thing, too) and start recognizing "Dark Passion Play" for what it is - a brilliant Metal album that expands Nightwish's sound into several directions while still maintaining - and improving - a lot of familiar elements.
Alright, so. As I said, I write well on anger. So here goes my rather long story about what happened to me this very morning. Enjoy, and I really mean that ;)

Clicky, clicky for the madness )

So, that was my morning. How was yours, and did anyone actually read this thing all the way till the end? I'd love to know!

Am using Deepest Sender now.
Too bad it doesn't support crossposting. What's worse, the people behind it are not planning to implement it because they think it's mainly being used to spam people and abuse the servers. Uh... reality check, pls? =_=
Anyway.
More copy/paste, but at least, this time, it's fully integrated within Firefox (which, of course, includes the same awesome crash recovery function) and has a much nicer interface. Cold be worse ;)

Also, the latest iPhone goings on once again put me off of my iPod plans - hopefully, for a long time.
So, they cut the price by one third after just six weeks. And now, they give out $100 coupons for their own shop? Pardon my French, but that's just fuckin' insane.
The media say that this is a half-assed solution. Well, I disagree. It's not even quarter-assed.
Heck, by giving out $100 coupons, instead of apologizing to their customers who have effectively been betrayed, all they do is earn more money. Didn't it occur to them that after this, many people will never want to buy an Apple product again?
Amusing fact: Something very, very similar happened to Nintendo in the late Eighties, but that's beside the point.
I know, many of you own and love Apple things. Which is okay and I respect that. But I don't support them in the slightest, and hopefully, never will.
I'm just writing this to clarify that my opinion about them is not something like blind hate, it's the way they do things that pisses me off again and again.
