... I HAS IT.

It's the DVD of 白蛇伝/Hakujaden/The Tale of the White Serpent
Kai sending ME an anime I have never heard of. Talk about crazy.
But I know EXACTLY why he chose it.
It's the oldest colour anime feature film ever (it's from 1958) and Kai seems to be fully aware of the fact that, like him, I love oldschool stuff at least as much as the newest fare.
Gosh, that man never ceases to amaze me.
Well, I guess now I know what to watch tonight =)
Gonna be interesting, I read they only used two voice actors for all the characters. Also, the DVD does have German dub, but also the original with English subs. Good thing, I hate German subs, Japanese translated into that always sound horribly awkward.
Anyhow, I'll tell you more about it tomorrow, not that you'd want to hear it, right? XD

I just noticed, Kai was exactly one year old when that movie was released. Heh... ^_^;;;
Which is, in your opinion, the anime of anime?
The one everyone should seen at some point, even if they're not interested in anime or Japan?
(Preferrably series, not movies!)

Played around a bit with the LoliMaker (anime character generator program).
This is what came out of it:

Pretty considering it's supposed to be me ^_^;;;

There's a more or less translated version of the application avaiable for download on RS.

I just noticed that I shook the hand of the German Lina Inverse a few weeks ago.
Yep, Shandra Schadt was one of the cast members of "Spring Heeled Jack".
Come tot hink of it, her role was really similar, actually. And if you ask me, she fits tsunderekko* like Lina more or less perfectly. Whoever cast her for Slayers, they've done the right thing.
Not to mention she's super nice and... um... damn pretty ^_^;;;

The German Slayers dub cast list reads like a who-is-who of Munich voice actors. I mean, holy damn O_o Needless to say, Kai has a few small-ish roles in there as well <3

* Yes, I know, Lina is far more tsun-tsun than dere-dere, but IMHO, she still counts :P

[livejournal.com profile] yamasagi and me have been watching "NOGIZAKA Haruka no Himitsu" tonight.
So we were (and still are) in a rather otaku-y mood.
Therefore, I checked about next year's AnimagiC (biggest anime/manga convention in... Europe, I think).
We haven't been to one in ages and would really like to get back into that habit.

Apparently, 2009's AnimagiC will take place in Bonn from July 31 to August 2.
Also, this will be the first time that con tickets will be available online, starting February 23.

Awesome. Can't wait!
So, I guess I might see one or two of you there? :D
Just look for a quirky and slightly chubby Shana (... or did you think I was gonna let that cosplay opportunity pass?) ^_~

And now, I gotta look for swords... and contact lenses *lol*
jessybxx: (Anime - Lucky Star (Konata cornet))
( Dec. 30th, 2008 11:49 pm)
I won a Konata ^___^
If you ask me, everyone should have their own Konata *lol*

Anyway XD
New hardware a.k.a. Xmas pressies (apart from the last one)!

External DVD writer (Pretty and fast as hell!)

DVB-T stick (... which I haven't gotten around tor eally testing that much yet XD)

Additional handset (... because the "big phone" is two rooms away and usually, the answering machine picks up before me ^_^;;;

I found a better quality version of "Cosmos dream"! Yes! Yes! Yesss!!!

God, so beautiful... Also, it's verifiably the first Japanese song I ever heard. Back then, I think I was still in kindergarten. I thought I'd forgotten how it went, but when I played it again, it all came back immediately... *chokes*
The new (fourth) Slayers TV series is just around the corner.
And already, we got a few small sneak-peaks of the new music. Guess what? That's right, I uploaded them for you!

Click here! (zip/6.85 MB)

Contents of the zip file... )

BTW, in case you're curious, I got all of those songs from the new "Slayers Megumix" CD. It's a nice compilation of all the songs Megu-chan has sung for the classic franchise. Highly recommended for both old and new fans ^_^
Also, how do you like my Lina icon? I usually don't like it if a picture looks washed-out/blurry, but in this case, it fits.

Yesh. It seems like my Munich plan is finally taking shape. I just need to hear back from Soulbrother once more. Guess I'll keep you posted, eh? :3

And now... soccer ^^

Is it just me or is that awful "Motteke! Sailor fuku" (OP of "Lucky Star") just starting to spawn more songs that are exactly like that?
I just listened to "Apron dake wa Toranaide!" (OP of "Koharu Biyori") and it's eerily similar.
Heck, I usually like kawaii songs, but these are just kindergarten material :|
Why is there no icon for disgusted?

Also, with "Lucky Star", they did something I'd surely do if I was responsible for the music of one (or more) anime series - They have a different ending song for each episode.

Okay, off to listen to some more new (and hopefully good) anime tunes...

That meme is awesome. It's fun to imagine the people doing the stuff it says *snickers* [/rather bored, hence easily amused]

There just was a teaser for some new TV series, and the background music was "Amaranth". But that's not surprising since ProSieben (one of the three major private TV channels) is kinda notorious for advertising and supporting Metal bands. They campaigned hugely for Edguy a couple of times. I wonder what music they'll use once they start running trailers for Doctor Who... if ever ;_;

Finally, a scary piece of news (seen at [livejournal.com profile] nebelkraehes [GJ only, I think], thank you ^^)
Notes near Body Parts in Belgium Linked to Death Note
Uh-oh. Knowing the German media, they'll be banning manga and anime next. Provided this event actually gets through to them. We'll see.

I wanted to download KODA Kumi's discography for [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi (Personally, her music makes me run away. Fast.), but the torrent isn't seeded.

I wanted to have a look at the promo clips for Clannad (I read a short synopsis of the story and it sounded really interesting), but the scarywater tracker is down.

It's not even Friday the 13th ;)
The way the LonE staff has been talking about this song made it sound like it's the next big thing. And after listening to it a few times, I gotta agree. Get it. BTW, translated lyrics are available here (THX to guuchan ^^).

Also... they're doing a full Sky Girls series? Oh, come on. What a waste of precious airing time and anime making resources *giant yawn*
jessybxx: (Anime - Yoko #2 (Gurren Lagann))
( Apr. 24th, 2007 02:08 pm)
Call me superficial, but sometimes, I tend to judge something by its look.
Case in point:

This is Yoko, one of the main characters from the new Gainax anime "Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann". Now, not only does she have long, red hair, but OMG, look at the lil' skull she's wearing <3 <3 <3

Er... yeah. Needless to say, two new user icons emerged nearly out of thin air.

*is waiting for SEB 177*
Last night, we watched "Neko no Onageshi". Who the heck had the great idea of calling it "Das Königreich der Katzen" in German? It's "The Cat returns", not "The Kingdom of Cats". What's wrong with "Die Rückkehr der Katze"? Huh? Huh???
Anyway *cough*
What a cute, original and beautiful movie. But hey, it's Studio Ghibli, so I didn't expect anything less! The DVD menu was purring. No kidding!

And today, I found out that my favourite German voice actor is playing a major role in the movie.
We watched the subbed version because I didn't know. And how could I, being all but used to him getting big appearances like that?
Unfortunately, [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi has already put the DVD back in the mail.
Awww, noooooooo ;_____;

I mean, we'll be getting "Tokyo Godfathers" soon, and he's got an even bigger role in that one. He plays Hana, one of the three main characters. He's even got two (!) singing parts and dammit, I so wanna hear that <3
But still, what a stupid coincidence =_=

Which reminds me, I never really talked about him, did I? Holy hell, that's more than overdue!
I mean, I actually have two crushes who share the same first name. If that isn't cool, I dunno what is XD [Hint, hint: Look at my icon ^^]

jessybxx: (IBM T21)
( Mar. 12th, 2007 09:04 am)
Max's power supply is fucked. But apparently, it's not just cuz of the usual reason* but because it has a factory damage. Instead of too little power, which I suspected, the thing gives out too much power causing the motherboard to shut down the booting process. The hell...?! Unfortunately, you need special equipment to find out about this. Which, of course, [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi has. Lucky. Actually, I'm luckyx2 since we found this out now and can (hopefully) still get it replaced. Now all that's gotta happen is mum finding the bill in the mess that is my former room. Fingers crossed, eh?

Also, the second battery Yama buolt for Kan-chan doesn't work. It keeps overheating and shutting down and we have no idea why. Ah, well. Those are still available on eBay so should I really need another one, I only need to invest about 45 Euros.
Actually, I much prefer the other option, which could be described as "Once I get a job, start saving some moolah to buy a shiny, new IBM laptop at some point later this year". Unfortunately, they're not the type of laptop starting at 600-something Euros. They're business machines after all so I guess twice the amount would be neccessary. But them being business machines also means they're hard-working and nearly indestructable (I know both of these traits from good, old Kan-chan. He's simply amazing even though he's about seven years old <3), service is good and they hardly have to be repaired. We just saw the results of c't's annual laptop service survey and IBM came first in all but one category (Dell came second).
Yeah. Can you tell how much I prefer IBM? I mean, look at those consumer brands. Bro's got an Acer. The touchpad died after a couple of months (!). Mum's got a Fujitsu-Siemens. You can't see it when it's turned on, but the glass of the screen is green, for god's sake :| (Companies these days love to save money by fitting cheap screens which reflect like hell and can hardly be looked at unless the room's nearly dark. Hello?!)
Anyway. For now, that's just a dream.

* A computer can either be on 24/7 or be powered off every night. Switching from one to the other two or three times kills the power supply. I could go into the technical details here, but I won't. Just let me tell you that it's a) true and b) a general problem of how power supplies are built. So no way of changing it.

Speaking of dream. "Yes! Precure 5" episode 5 just finished. I'mma watch that now, and then, it's time to do some stuff. There's lots and lots to do today so we'll have to see about Biffno *gulps*

Eddie Murphy lost his voice. His German voice, to be precise. Yes, that's right. Randolf Kronberg, who voiced Eddie since like, forever, died on March 2.
Holy hell, we got ourselves another big hole in the dubbing scene.
The last huge one was when Elisabeth Volkmann (a.k.a. Marge Simpson) passed away last year. They found someone new but most Simpsons fans loathe her because she's a crappy choice indeed >:|

Also, I wanna see This Film Is Not Yet Rated (Note that each of the six words is a different link concerning the movie! Ha, I rule >:D). Badly.

If you want to see Stephen Colbert switching in and out of character, download this. Wow. On the one hand, he scares me a bit. On the other, he seems like such a sweet, friendly guy *swoons*

What? There's a new Precure anime? Again? It's called "Yes! Precure 5" (ANN AnimeNfo) Crap, I haven't even completed the first one yet.! Anime producers, I hate you. Nah, not really. Guess I'm just toooo slooooow XD

And then... Is it just me or is Robbie Williams about to turn into the third Pet Shop Boy?
Don't get me wrong, I think them working together is pretty damn cool. "She's Madonna" is a good song even though the bridge sounds an awful lot like that in "Being boring". But I suggest everyone who likes some nice elctronic tunes check out "We're the Pet Shop Boys" (it's on Robbie's new album "Rudebox"). That one simply rules :D

Finally, a nice take on the infamous "Responsible Drinking" episode of Even Stevphen. As much as I adore Jon/Stephen, Stephen/Steve does indeed need more love. And I'm not even mentioning Jon/John here ^_~

( Feb. 11th, 2007 01:18 am)
I just read that in the US version of Initial D, the Eurobeat music was replaced by HipHop to give the series a better chance to succeed in the market.
Can you hear my heart breaking?
God, I mean, this is replacing one of the coolest things I know with one of the most revolting ones. I can hardly express how terrible this feels to me!
The world has a weird taste in music, at least from my freak perspective.

Well, at least this piece of unspeakable news made me dig up the old Initial D songs again, and I gotta say they're still lovely.

Whee, it's snowing :D

Roku-chan (my Nokia 6230i) got his new outfit today:

Mmh, pretteh black... It was good to replace the cover since the original one had a scratch somewhere in the display area. Which isn't as bad as it sounds because it's just a cover and so the display itself wasn't harmed. Still, it looks better this way. And the keyboard is totally not better than my old one O_O;;;
(And YES, that IS a SUZUMIYA Haruhi wallpaper :3)

I have also put Di Gi Charat Winter Garden in my download queue. It's a two-part TV special set ten years into the future. Apparently, it's a serious drama as opposed to the weird, wacky humour of the other series. And as a long-time Dejiko fan, it's needless to say that I'm more than curious as to if - and if, how - they managed to pull that one off.
