I bet you were thinking I wasn't gonna do this one, huh?

ExpandClick here for teh hotness ^^ )

You might think I forgot someone. And in a way I did.
Well, in the beginning, I wanted to leave him out of this completely but then decided to include him as a sort of bonzus.
For some reason, I feel like he doesn't quite fit in here, yasee?

ExpandFinally - honorary mention (16/15)... )

There you go. That was MY weird little list.
Probably the most chaotic one yet. But who cares? ;)

Had a decidedly bad day. Glad it's almost over.

However, "The Shrine" was one of the most awesome SG-A episodes in a long time. No real spoilers here, but David Hewlett's performance made me cry more than just once.
Why they could cancel a show that's still going strong like (mainly thanks to its wonderful cast of characters) this is absolutely beyond me.
*sigh*

Aaarrrggghhhh!!! They're airing my beloved Stargate Atlantis pilot episode. Dubbed. So bad. DO NOT WANT A BILLION TIMES!!! *runs and hides*

Have you seen this?

Awesome. I'm SO checking out the DS version ^^

And [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi is probably looking forward to the July release of "Trauma Center 2". He loved the first one.
Actually, I'm writing this to the sound of him testing something on his DS (the new-ish silver model). Gaming nerds, that's what we are. Oh yes ;)

In case someone missed it...

Stargate Atlantis has been renewed for a fifth season!!

(Source: SG-A blog)

I mainly compiled this lil' list for personal use, but I thought some of you might like it, too. So, here goes:

Heroes (season 2) September 24

Stargate Atlantis (season 4) September 25

House (season 4) September 25

Qi (series E) September 21

Well, I guess it's time to warm up those BT clients and clear some HDD space, for the summer is over and our heroes will be back very soon ^__^

Oh! "Who wants to be a Superhero?" season 2 finale in two days. Can't wait =)

And finally, expect pictures of my Doctor Who toys to arrive tomorrow. [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi and me had an awesome unpacking and tryout session this evening. And to be honest, more stuff was ordered as well, because my dear fiance just couldn't resist that black remote control Dalek. Bless him <3

Just stumbled onto this again.
It's a SG-A fic that has an AU!Carson in it who is actually... a pengiun. It's one of the cutest things I've ever read and I just thought I'd pimp it.
And now - go read ^_^

ETA: http://sga.fictionresource.com/fic_index.php (I rarely go there because if I do, I tend to spend HOURS reading all the stuff ^_^;;;)

Okay, first. We watched SG-A "Sunday" yesterday. Although I kind of knew what was going to happen, it still hit me like a truck.

ExpandATENTION, this cut contains a terrible SPOILER for Stargate Atlantis 3x17!!! )

SG-1 was really good as well. It will never, ever be able to compare to SG-A but you gotta love teh SG-1, even if it's just because of its ruthless bashing of religion and blind belief. Because this, they do remarkably good. Oh, and Vala. She RAWKS =D
BTW, they're still doing little crossovers. Me likey ^_^

Apart from that, I want a new PDA. One that doesn't lose all its data when the battery is used up. But those are 100+ Euros so... forget it. Blah.

I think even mentioning this - without telling what exactly it's about - is already a spoiler.
So I don't recommend clicking the cut.
Guess I just need to whine.

On a positive note, [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi gave me his black second-generation Furby (whom I named E-Bay cuz I'm stoopid ^^) because he was acting strange.
He kept stopping in the middle of whathever he was doing and reverted to "listening mode" (And no, he's NOT George Bush *lol*).
My initial suspicion were nearly depleted batteries so I took them out and gave E-Bay the ones I had removed from Nah-Bah (my white Furby). And lo, he was perfectly fine, sang and danced like nothing had ever happened =)
Call me Furby Nurse ^_~

Mum also introduced me to a fun cooking show on German TV today O_O

The heating is dead. Repair guy will come tomorrow. It's cold everywhere except in the dining room where we have a good old wood-eating fireplace. I think dad has actually moved there now.
Mum's at choir practice, dad and I made some mulled wine to stay warm.
And now, I'm huddled in bed with Kan-chan to watch some SG-A.
Max is still downloading some stuff for me but since he's a big computer (and since I just shut off the Vista standby option that put him to sleep after just one hour ^_^;;;), he can do it alone.

What else...

Oh yeah. I found out that I don't need the Ultimate edition of Vista since the additional stuff it contains is just programs I can't even name let alone have any use for. What I need is just Home Premium (Home Basic actually lacks the pretteh Aero Glass surface which makes it pretty worthless and hardly different compared to XP =_=).
A System Builder copy of Vista Home Premium that would cost me 119 Euros. And I'm talking about a GB one. Yes, my favourite PC online shop actually sells British copies of Windows for the same price as the German ones. How would Borat put it? "Wow wowie wow" =)

I'm also thinking of giving Max a second GB of RAM for Xmas. It makes sense since he might very well be running Vista for the rest of his life and that eats up a shitload of memory.

Jiro and Tenchi got neutered today.

ExpandCut for possible TMI )

I heard the Canadians are airing the SG-A episodes in the wrong order. Uh... hello?!

Also, the next person to ask me whether I wannna watch Eragon will most likely get punched. I know you're not supposed to listen to reviews and should instead make your own opinion. But come the hell ON! Everyone's bashing that movie. Actually, my initial feeling about the film was soemthing along the lines of "So they need a fantasy movie for Xmas and since LOTR is done and HP 5 is not coming out before summer, they had to find something - scratch that, anything - else". And that seems to be it.
So Yama finally folded and bought cat collars for Jiro and Tenchi.
They're blue (for Tenchi) and purple (for Jiro) with white fish bones on them.
I just hope they'll tolerate the things because it was getting more and more difficult to tell them apart O_o
And if all goes well, I'll take new pics of them during the weekend :D

Oh, and in case anyone wants this, I've uploaded it for [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi but feel free to help yourself as well:

( Sep. 21st, 2006 03:54 pm)
Last night, I watched "The lost boys". Funnily enough, that was also the episode that was broadcast on German TV on the same day. The German title is simply "The enzyme". Ow. That is so, SO typical. So BLOODY umimaginative =_=

Apart from that, I just came back from "Critical Mass". The episode where Teyla sings. (The song is called "Beyond the night", for those who didn't pay attention during the end credits ^_~)
That thing is evil *sniffle*
And no, I don't think it's cheesy. Not at all. Maybe it's because I love SG-A so much that I'll take anything from them?
The only thing is that the playback looked not exactly realistic.
Though I'll kick anyone who claims Rachel didn't sing the song herself because she DID >:O
I also have a piece of trivia. I read it on the official Stargate blog. They had to record the vocals twice because the firat time, Rachel was too good O_o

BTW, lyrics (ironically found on a German SG-A board):
Beyond the night, a rising sun
Beyond the night, the battle’s won
The battle’s won

Fear and shame now in the past
Pain and sorrow gone at last
Gone at last

Circle renewed, peace will be found
Beyond the night on sacred ground

River flows, led by the wind
First new breath, our journey begins
Our journey begins

*sigh*
Listening to [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi on Skype playing with the cats cracks me up. So funny ^____^
And... their new names rock. Jiro and Tenchi. So cool :D

In other news: Found torrents for Stargate SG-1 seasons 5 and 6. If I'm lucky, I might be able to extract the... um... relevant episodes from them.
I mean, John turned Goa'uld, most likely complete with Teh Glowing Eyes of Doom (Eeeee-ness!!) ?
*chants* Me wants... me wants... me wants...
... even if the episodes will be totally taken out of context and I prolly won't get HALF A THING of what's happening *lol*

Last weekend, [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi gave me a Stargate Atlantis bunny. And I had no idea what to do with it.
I mean, I don't know any SG-A writers to pass it to and I'm not exactly confident enough to try it myself.
Well, the problem just got somehow solved cuz [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi sent me a snippet. He started writing something O_O

On a furry note, I renamed my cat (ex-Nagisa). So now I present

Jiro!

[livejournal.com profile] yamasagi hasn't quite settled on a new name for TCFKAM (The Cat Formerly Known As Miyuki) but I hope he stays with the one he just told me via Skype. Well, I guess I'm gonna keep you updated on that ^_^

PS: Aaaand it's decided:

( Sep. 14th, 2006 06:54 pm)
Guess what? I just listened to the original "Spock VS Q" audio play. I still need a better version of its second half as the 64 kbps one turned out to be mightily crappy indeed. Well, I'm certainly working on it.
Anyway.
That thing is absolutely hilarious *giggles*
Leonard Nimoy as Spock is kinda cool. But John just rocks so much. He's so FUNNY <3
Somehow, I don't see why some people accuse him of being out of character. He ISN'T! I mean, remember the party Q threw on the bridge of the Enterprise when he got his powers back (episode "Deja Q")? And remember how he made Data have a laughing fit? Damnit, that character has its goofy sides, certainly. Okay, he IS overdoing it in that audio play, but I dun care.
I mean... Gosh, what a performer O_o
Actually, there's a copy of the full set (both plays + bonus disc that has the five-minute video) on eBay Germany right now. And if I'm able to get it for the initial bidding price, I'm gonna take it. Yea.

BTW, I noticed something odd.
No matter how much the writers ruined Q's character in Voyager (and DS9, tho I'm not sure whether that one episode actually counts), when it comes to visuals, I really prefer that older version of him.

Yep. Certainly. And it's also a good thing they didn't make him wear purple lipstick again (I really wonder, am I the only one who ever noticed that? XDDD).

I also noticed there's a lack of high quality Q screencaps (or, indeed, Q/John pics in general) on the net. Well, one more reason to wait until the DVDs get cheaper ^_~

Apart from that... Aw man... Stargate SG-1 seasons five and six. He was in a couple of episodes back then. Dunno how important his role was (he played a - terribly handsome - Colonel) but I know he was sorta evil and got a very cool story (and death, ehe XD). Ebil John? REAL ebil? I want!!

The problem about John is that he's one of those people who tend to appear everywhere, but only as guest stars. I think half of the 'net is wondering why he never got a really big role anywhere. Or why Q never appeared ion any of the movies, considering he's one of the most popular recurring characters. Nobody really seems to understand those things. And that includes me. Meh.

Oh, and I got that. For Kan-chan. Cuz the old one was peeling off. Now I removed it and am going to replace it with the new one. Pretteh notebook ^_^

Speaking of pretteh, how do you like my "under construction" page? The graphic was done by Blade. His stuff rocks!!

( Sep. 12th, 2006 08:52 pm)
I just heard Paul McGillion speak without the Scottish accent.
And I have to say it was a bit sad.
I mean, I've grown to really appreciate US accents, which is something I would've never believed possible say, five years ago.
But Paul is just so much cuter playing Carson <3

As you might notice, I made a bunch of random LJ icons. Stargate, a Q one and... that's it. Yesterday, I made a second House one as well. Now my collection is still hugely centered on Kai and Tobi, but at least I have SOME from my other fandoms to use when I need them :D

Ah, fandoms. Aren't they the most lovely thing ever created? They should be on the same list as the wheel, electricity and the internet, if you ask me XD

€dit: Something for the McKay/Beckett shippers/supporters: A bit of making-of centered on a certain SG-A episode. Be sure to WATCH THE ENDING OF THAT! I think I'm dead now :P~~~

(Damn, I love YouTube!!!)
... and how they managed to ruin ALL of the characters!
Yay! ... not XD

So this thing happened last Wednesday.
I was watching the interview with that young woman who had been imprisoned by a guy for eight and a half years but during the commercials, I switched around the channels a bit and suddenly found myself in the middle of a SG-A episode. A dubbed SG-A episode. A second before I started yelling and destroying random pieces of furniture, I decided to take this opportunity and make some notes about the stuff they did to the characters. That way, I'd have some real arguments against the bloody dub of doom.
Fun fact: I actually did this in ENglish almost automatically cuz I know nobody would read that if I put it onto my German blog and... let's face it, you guys simply got better adjectives than we do ^_~

This was an episode from the second season and that's why Lt. Ford isn't mentioned. And I really would've liked to hear Radek Zelenka, too (maybe in his case, they didn't remove an accent FOR ONCE, but my hopes aren't exactly high) but he didn't appear during the five minutes I managed to stand this crap.
I also researched the names of the pathetic idiots voice actors just for the sake of completeness.
Anyway, here are my (slightly exteneded) notes, sorted by character! Grab your vomiting bags, hold on to something and have... fun X_x

--------------------------------

John Sheppard
This is the only character where I can tell you the name of the voice actor without research: Marcus Off, who also played Eric Idle in Monty Python's Flying Circus and Jack Sparrow in You-Know-What. And you know how much I love him in both roles. But John Sheppared is probably the single wrongest thing he ever did! I mean, John's behaviour and the stuff he says tend to be kinda dorky (space bugs, anyone? XD) but he's also very brave and saves the days on Atlantis on a somewhat regular basis. But the dub really reduces him to the silly comments. Which hurts. Badly.

Elizabeth Weir
(played by Elisabeth Günther)
Heck, no. Now, Elizabeth can be TUFF when danger looms large. But in general, she really CARES for her people a lot. Well, her German version sounds more like a teenage bitch than anything else. Yuck.

Rodney McKay
(played by Axel Malzacher)
OMG I always hated Axel Malzacher and now it's just getting worse >:O Okay, Rodney is an ass. But he's a brilliant, funny, loveable and terribly charming ass. Not to mention he's a lot hotter than I tend to admit to myself, ahem XD Anway, the dubbers somehow succeeded in taking away all of his charm and leaving only the ass behind. Great job. Not.

Teyla Emmagan
(played by Natascha Geisler)
The leader of the Athosian people is friendly, caring and compassionate. Her German version sounds as if she had an IQ of about 12.7. Wow.

Carson Beckett
(played by Tobias Lelle)
Okay, it's impossible to recreate a Scottish accent in German language. But it's still irritating because there's certainly something missing. And that's not the worst aspect of Carson's dubbed version. Oh no. As I told [livejournal.com profile] silicondreams, he's my favourite character in SG-A. Why? Because he's cute and gentle and easily scared ;) In contrast, the German Beckett sounds as if he was being constantly annoyed. Where is my adorable, shy Carson gone? Oh god, this is just so terrible!!! *sobs*

Ronon Dex
(played by Ole Pfennig)
Heh. He's the only main character that sounded somewhat similar to the original. Strange.

--------------------------------

Y'know what? Right now, I firmly believe the vocie actors were chosen by throwing some dice T_T

And we can do better, we really can. And we did.
For example, I have heard John de Lancie speak. It was only a short piece and it was years ago, but that really burned into my brain (God, I had have such a crush on that man, but more about the embarrassing stuff tomorrow ^_~). And his German VA (Hans-Werner Bussinger) really sounds remarkably similar. No kidding.

Okay, this doesn't change the fact that I want to watch the Q episodes in English but anyway. We can do better.

[livejournal.com profile] yamasagi just wroe me a nice "introduction to Stargate Atlantis".
Why that, you ask? Well, one of my missions for the week to come will be to get [livejournal.com profile] silicondreams hooked on the greatest SciFi series since Star Trek TNG.
Now if that isn't a plan, I dunno what is ;)

And I think I'm kinda calm right now. No idea whether that'll change once it's actually Saturday, but well...
We're gonna have anice goodbye dinner today... featuring Bavarian sausage and pretzels O_o Hey, but I thought we're Westphalian! Weird *shakes head*
