Long but hopefully at least a bit interesting )

So there. And now... two and a half weeks of real holiday. And we'll begin with some sleeping.
*keels over and starts snoring*

( Dec. 25th, 2007 11:36 pm)
Tomorrow, we'll be getting up at 8 AM to drive down to Bavaria (which, considering the holiday traffic, will take us at least six hours).
Unfortunately, we didn't manage to get past it and so we have to attend that blasted get-together of [livejournal.com profile] yamasagis family.
I'm sure that's gonna be lovely :|
Oh well, at least we'll have a lot of peace and quiet after that. And on January 11, [livejournal.com profile] silicondreams will be here :D
I'll be taking my DS with me, but I'm not sure whether I'll find the time to play. In the car is a no-go because I get carsick really quickly. Damn. I'm surely gonna miss my animals :(
Aaanyway. We'll be back Thursday afternoon - hopefully. See you then!

Journalfen's database is down and has been for several days. I want my money back.

Anyway.
In about forty minutes, we'll be off to take part in the "Tag der Besten" (Day of the Best). It's yet another event concerning [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi's IT master graduation. Today, only the best of the bunch get a prize, there's food and a comedian (for the Germans/German speaking people: Jörg Knör) will be performing as well.
And because Yama wasn't just one of the best, but in fact THE best, he's been asked to take part in some discussion panel as well. Apparently, he got out of the whole affair by saying something along the lines of "I'm a man of deeds, not of words" *lol* Of course, the truth is that he's scared of speaking in front of a lot of people. Bless him :*
So, we'll see how this event goes. See you later!

Sooooo, my bad feeling was, once again, absolutely correct.
When [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi called the shop guys yesterday (we used his account since he already had one and it would have been stupid to open up a second one for me, so he was the one talking to them) he said they had saved our order as cash-in-advance. I guess they were waiting for me to send them the money, which of course makes total sense if you want to pick up the item by yourself. Yeah, perfectly sensible *groan*
He said he'd check where the laptop is and would call us again. At that point, it was 2 PM. When we had heard nothing from them at 5:30 (half an hour before the end of their opening hours), Yama tried to call them again, but nobody picked up. The hell...?!
The whole affair was even more surprising because when we bought our LCD TV from them back in summer, everything went well. Heck, that was the reason why we chose them in the first place. Guess once some company has more than ten customers, everything (service, common sense and such) just goes to hell by default :|
So we finally decided to cancel our order while I was already looking for machines inside our fave computer store's current products flyer. They have some decent specimen at reasonable prices. Also, whatever laptop I'll be getting now, at least I can be sure to get proper - or indeed, any - service if something happens.
This also means I won't be getting a IBM/Lenovo. On the other hand, I'll be obtaining much better specs for the same money. Which I like. A lot.
And after this episode, I won't be so picky about having a touch pad instead of a TrackPoint. At least I'll get the damn comp right away.
So, this afternoon, it's laptop shopping ^_^
This week sucks. Big time. Pls to be over nao?

- My cold is almost gone. [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi has it now ;_;

- Nino (our uber awesome Java teacher) got other people to teach the exercise groups. I think now he's only doing the lecture itself. Nooooo *sobs*

- Missed the bus on Wednesday which caused Cathi and me to get stuck amidst 130 high school kids who were on a field trip to the university. Apparently, their teachers had had the wonderful idea of sending them to lunch all at once. Morons.

- Missed the bus again today. Thankfully, this time, that only meant a 20-minute walk home with considerably nice music.

- That guy on eBay sent me the wrong item. And getting it replaced won't make sense, money-wise. Crap crap crappity crap crap!!

- I'm worried sick for not getting my new laptop today after all. I dunno, they did say they'll have it by the end of the week, but I still have a terribly bad feeling.

Now excuse me while I play a session of You don't know Jack 3. Or two. Or three. Or...

( Nov. 5th, 2007 10:38 pm)
Reason 1: They emailed me the tickets for Hellish Rock in January. Yes, emailed. You heard that cxorrectly. Apparently, that's why the shiping's free . there is none *lol* Still, each ticket has its unique reservation code so everything should be okay. In other words, [livejournal.com profile] silicondreams, we has tikits!!
Reason 2: [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi ordered "The Eye of Judment" which should be here tomorrow. I know I did bitch about that game quite a lot, but I'm still interested to see how it looks and works.
Reason 3: Hopefully, tomorrow afternoon, we'll get something cool from the store that sold us our LCD TV: My brand-new laptop! ZOMGWTFBBQ!!! My first portable baby that's not used! I'm not telling what model it is (tho, if you know me at all, guessing shouldn't be a problem), but will certainly return with pics and specs as soon as I manage to tear myself away from the thing ;)

Hooray.
Yours truly caught a nice, annoying flu *sneezes* *blows nose*
There is, however, one definitive upside to that: [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi insisted on preparing me a hot bath <3

*crawls out from mountain of math problems* OH HAY. I CAN HAS SOLUTIONS NOW PLS?

Remember Ni-Juu-Ni? The IBM T22 (900 MHz - 100 MHz faster than my T21) [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi bought to use at his job?
When he was looking at brand-new ones, he suddenly asked me whether an additional 100 MHz might be of any use to me. "Why of course", I said.
To which he replied: "Then we'll swap. I hardly use Ni-Juu-Ni anyway and you need the best laptop you can get to take to uni every day"
O_O
This means I'll use the long weekend ahead of us (All Saints' Day tomorrow) to swap all the drives between the two machines (I'm even taking my DVD drive because the one in the T22 seems to have mechanical closing issues), format them and reinstall the OSes. My new T22 will be getting XP Home, firstly because Yama bought a license just for it and secondly because I've seen it on this amchine and it runs a lot more smoothly than I could've imagined.
I also ordered two new TrackPoint caps because mine is rather severely used ^_^;;;
So, yay. My third laptop in two years. WTF?! XD

Tonight, we'll have dinner at the Chinese restaurant with a friend of Yama's and his girlfirend.
And on Sunday, it's off to mum, dad and bro once again. I'm sure there'll be tons of university talk. Hee ^^

Currently, I'm waiting for the Oberhausen tickets to arrive. I odered them the moment [livejournal.com profile] silicondreams told me she'd booked the flgihts.
I also arranged for us to go meet my parents' on Saturday. This sounds weird. Never mind XD
Mum's cooking. Gonna be fun, especially seeing all of their attempts at communication in whatever language they might come up with *giggles*
So, 2008's not even here yet but there's one definitive highlight already planned. Nice, eh? ^_^

Mmh, new 'Ray promo pics *saves them to USB stick to cheer herself up during upcoming modeling methods lecture*

Owies.
Memo to self: If you tell [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi to wrap the plastic wrap tightly around your head, he'll do exactly that. Wrap it hella tight. I feel like Elizabeth Weir in SG-A episode 4x01 ;)
Eek, five and a half hours to go O_o

But I wanna look decent for the new students welcoming ceremony tomorrow at the ungoldy hour of 11 AM *lol*
Still... So excited =)

Also, I'm back on WinXP and happily so. Also, back with Semagic which makes postign across four journaling services sooo much more convenient!
Alright, so. As I said, I write well on anger. So here goes my rather long story about what happened to me this very morning. Enjoy, and I really mean that ;)

Clicky, clicky for the madness )

So, that was my morning. How was yours, and did anyone actually read this thing all the way till the end? I'd love to know!

Right now, we're selling one of our PS2s on eBay. It's here. It's also got the SingStar stuff, the dance mats and three (!) cheating devices. OMG. Huge package, huh?
The other one (mine) plus another 25 games will go on sale the moment the first auction ends (Sunday at 7 PM). It doesn't have that many extras, but the games are slightly better.
Hopefully, we'll get good prices for all that stuff. [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi wants to buy new PS3 games (and his beloved Dalek) and me... I'll prolly grab some clothes, maybe the HDD I've been wanting for ages. We'll see. Keep your fingers crossed, 'kay? ^_^

I also borrowed [livejournal.com profile] yamasagis credit card and ordered a bit of Doctor Who merch at amazon UK.
The stuff has been shipped today and should arrive at the end of the week.
I won't be telling you what it is until I got it. However, I give you a hint: It's two gadgets and one figure, and no, no Doctor among it. There's hardly any of them available online anyway.
Anywho. Will post pics once I got the stuff :D

Getting back to the "converted [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi to Doctor Who" topic... I'm still a wee bit surprised I got him that easily. During the episode, he was like "Awesome" and "The Dalek rocks" a couple of times. Cool *beams*
But then, the thing is done in a way that it has to attract anyone who has even a vague interest in scifi and dramatic stuff. Just... powerful. Yeah.
Well, I guess I have to thank the actors and especially the writers. The job they did on the new series is just too amazing.
Russell T Davies is my absolute hero <3

[livejournal.com profile] yamasagi bought "Warhawk" last week. It's sort of a first-person shooter, but with additional features, like being able to drive any vehicle and fly any ship standing around. Plus, with PS3 graphics, it looks really good. He's been playing it quite a lot because he could hardly do anything against the more experienced gamers. He's getting quite good, too bad the console seems to be pretty sensitive when it comes to (natural) instabilities of the DSL line :(

( Sep. 2nd, 2007 11:00 pm)
Well, it did take me a little longer than expected, but today, I finally succeeded.
I got [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi convinced that Doctor Who is indeed THE THING to see for any drama/scifi freak.
I first told him a lot of the Daleks, got him interested in them and showed him episode 1x06, which is much better written than 1x01 and really brings out the strengths of the show.
Now, he's not only positive about watching the rest of the series, but he also wants a RC Dalek ^_^
Cool, eh?
Nobody can withstand my power of addicting >:D
One of my favourite funny lines, that. Hell, I adore him so *sniffle*

You are The Devil

Materiality. Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession

The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.

Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

And, because we're the Funny Dialogues Agency, some from today:
Yama (under the table): "Could you hand me my Asus PDA?"
Jessy (still wodnering why he needs it down there, commenting instead on the fact he added the brand name): "Do you have any others?"
Yama (ignoring the comment and switching it on): "... need light..."

(half a minute later)
Jessy (in the bathroom, exasperated): "Aw, Tenchi, you're so mean"
Yama (who quite correctly understood the comment on the fact cats tend to start yawning once I enter the room they're in, and Tenchi just did exactly that) *laughs*

Still rather tired. God, I'm such an old wreck ;)

One exciting piece of news is the fact that everyone in the company [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi works for got a 250 Euro payrise. Except for him. Which is a good thing because...
... wait for it..
His boss (= his dad) gave him free access to the bank account they use to buy tech and he can get stuff for 250 Euros each month
Of course, that stuff is supposed to be used for work only, but y'know, you can always bend rules XD
Yes, we've officially manifested our geek status until the end of time ;)
And I suppose there'll be a second 250 GB HDD in it for me later this year. Yay, no more booting from DVD because of the IDE disk that messes up the mainboard's startup process ^_^

Mum called me today. They'll be here at approx. 11:30 on Saturday and we'll be having lunch at the same nice restaurant as in March. Whee, plenty of time to recite [livejournal.com profile] silicondreamss and my adventure into their bewildered faces *lol*

Also, there's a second season of "Who wants to be a Superhero?" airing right now. Yes, yes, frinkin' yes!!! When [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi told be about it on the way from the station home, I screamed. Casting shows usually bore me to death, but this one is an exception. The first season was exceptional and very touching, and I expect nothing less from the new one. Plus, who could resist Stan Lee? He's such a lovable guy ^_^

BTW: Duisburg is now officially a gangster town. Six people were shot at the station two nights ago. Seems to be an Italian mafia war going on and it has actually expanded to good old Germany. What the hell?!

Hi thar, 'tis me, writing from Kan-chan. I decided to power him up again after what sems like half an eternity. Thought I'd check and update whatever needs to be updated, to get him somewhat prepared for next week ^^

So, what's up around here? Not too much, I'm afraid.
[livejournal.com profile] yamasagi started his two weeks of holiday so we're mainly doing fun things together, like shopping, watching movies and playing games. I'm far into the three-digit hours on Pokémon FireRed because I'm trying to get all of my critters past level 50 before going any further ("further" meaning entering - and beating - the Pokémon mansion). Also, Diamond and Pearl seem to be breaking all sales records in Germany which is nice ^^
Speakinhg of games, we got "The Darkness". We ordererd the Austrian version, which only differs from the German one in the fact that it's not been censored into unplayability >:| Of course, the game rocks, it's creepy and violent and just all around awesome ^^ The scariest thing about it, at least considering the technicalities, is the fact that in the subway station, there's a TV on which you can actually flick the channels. But that's not all, since it's not just some random clips playing on it. You can actually watch several full movies and series on there. I swear I'm not kidding! I had to look it up or I wouldn't have believed it myself, but it's true. Well, that's Blu-Ray fer ya ;)
Speaking of Blu-Ray, we watched our first Blu-Ray movie today - "xXx" (the first one). I had missed all the chances to see it which was probably good, because this way, it was totally new to me-. Good action film, and I can't help it - I like Vin Diesel. Yeah, feel free to start making jokes now, I prolly deserve it ^_~
Anyway, the picture was brilliant, and we couldn't see any of the horizontal slowdowns we heard are to be expected with BDs. So either our eyes are too bad or those people are stupid. Dunno.
Apart from all that, we went to IKEA and bought a shoe rack. It's a LOGGA and cost 10 Euros which was damn cheap. Gotta say that [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi didn't really like IKEA before, but I think the bargain we made might have loosened his opinion just a little bit. I, on the other ahdn,m love them to bits, and always have =)

Meh. That thing about my mum is bugging me to no end. It's putting a dent in everything I do, see, read or hear. Which is not good. However, I'm not sure whether the actual solution might not be far worse than the problem itself...

Yama (playing KAZAMA Asuka in "Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection"): "I can see her panties! I can see her panties! She's wearing something! ... wait a second... crap!"

Gotta admit, he IS a bit slow sometimes, even with realizing his own perv-ness ;)

... though her non-default outfit is... pretty hot ^^

... my allergy meds decided to take a few days off.
It' almost funny how sometimes, they just don't seem to give a crap about helping me. Hey, I paid money fer ya, suckers >:|
Anywho.
Needless to say, I didn't feel exceptionally well.
We actually went to bed earlier because all I wanted was to lie down and fall into a coma.

When it wasn't any better the enxt morning, I crawled into the enxt pharmacy and obtained a spray.
For now, it's working surprisingly well. And it'd better stay that way, or else... >:|

Dang, I'm on a truly grandma-esque number of meds right now O_o
My nose is still raw.

Heh. We'll be seeing OotP tonight. In German, unfortunately, because our cineman apparently can't be arsed to do even OENs creening in the original language. Meh. Well, German Harry's still better than no Harry at all. Also, I'm looking forward to another intersting discussion with [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi afterwards sicne he doesn't read the books and always has a bunch of (pretty interesting) questions. That, and the kebap we*ll be getting :D~~~

Also, I'm seriously thinking of following [livejournal.com profile] dienacht and leaving the 'net alone until I've obtained - and read - DH.
Now that we can be pretty sure the thing has leaked onto the inatwebs, you can't really click anywhere without the fear of getting exposed to something.
Actually, I just read half a sentence that doesn't sound like the usual rubbish and could very well be a real fact from the ending of book 7. I know it's my fault, but still. Dammit. Dammit to hell!!
God, I hope it's fake, not so much because of its content but because it might be an important aspect.

Blah.

Right now, both of my blogs seem to be turning into [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi quote collections :X

Anyway.
Last night, for some reason (can't really remember why), our conversation suddenly landed on chiromancy and [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi asked whether I could read his future from his hand.
And then, it all went to hell in a rather amusing fashion:
[livejournal.com profile] jessybxx (looks at hand): "In a few years, you'll be marrying an awesome woman"
[livejournal.com profile] yamasagi (after a short pause): "What are you doing here, then?"

Er... yeah. He's always like that, but of course, he never means anything seriously so I tend to laugh my ass of at his wacky ideas and sayings ^_~

ETA: I was just reading up some technical things about iPods. And instead of "dock connector", yours truly read "dork connector". OMG XDDD
