This isn't my basement room but one of my neighbour's.
And yes, that box there is floating :|

Look, I made an Andrew icon ♥
I actually stole the banner from the Bizarre Foods website because I love the photo so much. He looks totally adorable, dontcha think? ;)

Okay, more useless ramblings, anyone? Here we go!

Man, my kitchen is still so horribly incomplete, not just in terms of appliances and accessories. The wall cupboard my parents had ordered for me about, uh, two months ago still hasn't shown up and the last time they came here to work on my apartment the shelf I wanted to store food didn't fit in the car. So, right now, I'm stuck with two cupboards (one below my sink and the other one next to it which also has the work surface [where I cut stuff] and two drawers) and the top of my fridge to put things. Believe me, this is far FAR too little for all the plates, pots, glasses, cutlery and so on, not to mention the actual FOOD has to go somewhere. I mean, not everything can be stored in the fridge, so what about the potatoes, onions, bread, salt, flour, sugar...
Needless to say, it's a bit full in there right now, what with it being a small kitchen in the first place. But I like when it looks like it's actually being used, which it is. The kitchen at the place where I lived until a short while ago always felt like a fries stand because most food was made in the deep fryer. Actually, the surfaces and even the floor had started becoming sticky because of all the fatty fumes. Blergh! Right now, I don't even HAVE a deep fryer and honestly, could care less about getting one. I'm trying to cook real food with fresh ingredients, not just because I finally want to learn how to do it but also because I'm concerned about me health and, last but certainly not least, my weight. Is it just me or am I starting to sound like Jamie Oliver? Well, it's no surprise since I've been watching quite a bit of him lately, and also, goddammit, that man is RIGHT. But I'll maybe elaborate on that some other time.
During the past ten years, I've taken on about 25 kg (about 50 lbs) which is just HORRIBLE and I've certainly noticed my health starting to suffer from it. I just hope it's still early enough to turn this around...

On a more cheerful note, my second try on my improvised "Khaos Kurry" (I should file a copyright for this, I tell ya XD) turned out quite nicely indeed. I managed to get the meat less chewy (Thanks for the tops, mum :*), added more onions and tomatoes to the sauce and, since, this time, I actually had remembered to buy rice to go with it, more milk to get more sauce out of it. It honestly tasted like a real dish and realizing I not only had made up a recipe, got the amount of curry right AGAIN but also improved and added to it nearly made me cry onto my plate while enjoying it.
Maybe I DO have a real knack for this? If I do, I know whose genes are at work here *huggles her mum*

... like I mentioned before, I had tog et up at 5 AM. Actually, I got up a quarter of an hour earlier to switch on the laptop and the internet and to make myself a hot cup of mint tea because for some obscure reason I was freezing my ass off.

The rest of today, with all the painful (literally) details! )

Crazy and bad-ish day much? I hope this was the last one of its kind for quite a while :|

Been checking the Swedish furniture dealer's website. Damn, their stuff is simple but convenient and... so pricey <3

I was looking for beds just for fun and bumped into this.
Hm... Where have I seen this thing before...?! *lol*
If I have the choice, I'd want that because:
a) It's a good way to save space
b) I've always loved high beds
c) The one I'm currently sleeping in is far too low for my liking
I already have a table (the one I'm sitting at right now, [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi actuaolly demands for me to take it with me so he can use the space again O.o) so a bed will probably be one of the few things I'll actually need. As for kitchen stuff, I have a ton of house-gifts from my mum still stacked up at my family's place. I guess this is the time when I'll actually be able to put it to good use =)
Anyway, Tromsö (XD) it is ^^
I mean, 125€ for the smaller, single version? That's pretty good (I noticed the Italian prices are somewhat higher than ours). Sure, normal beds are still cheaper, but I'd love to retain the storage space below...
Also, I know it won't break under my weight since it managed to carry me, [livejournal.com profile] silicondreams and a cat, too ^_~
Ah, dreams... *sigh*
... jeez, it's not like I don't have the money. I just need to pull it (or at least a part of it) out of my parent's grip. And hey, I'm not gonna use it for nonsense >:O

Today was a wonderful day.
I haven't been this happy in... forever.

First, I spent hours (literally) just browsing appartment offers, without even seriously considering anything yet. I just wanted to see whether the situation in Essen is similar to the one in Duisburg, meaning tons of small flats at almost laughtable prices. And, wuldn't you know it, it's almost better than here! I guess chances for me to actually find something are good. No idea whether anyone will even give me a rent contract to sign since I can't get a job before I moved there (it's too far to commute without the "unlimited free rides ticket" from uni) and some of the landlords do want proof of a regular income before even considering you. Damn, that's gonna be complicated. Still, I know what to look for and it seems I think of stuff to do/find out about before [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi. Actually, I asked him not to help me with this at all because, y'know, it's purely my business and I want to get this done by myself.

I downloaded a comp of this for Kai and sent it to him today. Gotta say, he was really happy about that little surprise. Ah, I love giving rpesents to the people I love <3
BTW, at the enws of me moving out, he sounded almost as excited as me. Bless him ^^

We watched Wall-E tonight. Oh my god, if this isn't the cutest thing in the history of movies, I dunno what is. And the short film "Presto" make me laugh so hard I nearly chocked ^_^;;;

Finally:

You Are FAQ

For you, the internet is like your personal library. And you know more facts than fifty normal humans.

Your brain is basically lot a computer at this point. You have a lot of information stored up there.

You spend hours looking up obscure information and learning things. If you have question, you always Google it.

You can't help but be a bit of a know-it-all. You can answer everyone's frequently asked questions.

Yep, I agree ;)

Just now, [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi and me had a long, earnest talk which lasted about two hours.
The result: I'll be moving out within the next few weeks.
We both agreed that I need the experience and the feeling of sustaining myself.
I'll find myself a nice little apartment in Essen (where the university is) and a job so I can pay for it.
During the week, I'll be there and the weekends wil be spent at [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi's.
Sounds like a plan, eh?
On Monday, the oepration "Life on my own" will officially begin.
Yee-ha!!

ETA: On a silly note: I'l lbe living and studying in NOM from now on *lol* (Yes, "Essen" means "food" XD)
