Where the hell have I been?
Well.
Some time on Thursday evening, while [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi and me were out grocery shopping. our internet collapsed.
As you might have gathered, the damn thing didn't come back until just now.
Apparently, the Telekom people just don't care about your problem if it's not Monday.
No idea how many times we called them and just got a "We're working on it" back. Geez.
However, when I came back from the dentist an hour ago, the router's LEDs flashed "online" as if nothing had happened.
And now that teh net is back, I don't even know where to start catching up.
HALP.

Anyway. I'm back. Hi, everyone. Missed you lots *huggles flist* <3

Also...
Happy belated Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] silicondreams!!!
... again T_T [/really bad consciousness]

I hate me.

Well, at least it's not an ear pod. [/stupid Doctor Who reference]
But the price is just too good. It's Archos kinda good, actually. 80 GB for less than 250 bucks, that's almost incredible. ;_;
Also, I read they improved the outer shell so the things don't get scratched that easily.
This also means I'll have to sell Three.
Him and the moolah from my PS2 will very likely compensate for the iPod.
Anyway.
I'm kinda happy now.
Tomorrow, I'll hopefully be able to take a look at one of them in the store. Haven't seen the new iPods yet, apart from pics and videos on the 'net. Can't wait to touch one and go "A friend of yours is gonna be mine soon". Yea, I'm hopeless =)

BTW, I don't have him yet but he's already got a name. It's not the one I mentioned a few weeks ago. I found a better one. You'll see once I get him.

... oh.
I just noticed that I have no idea how to use iTunes *lol*
Well, maybe it's not so bad that I'll have to wait almost a fortnight to get the guy. Plenty of time to practice XD

...damn.
Why did Apple have to set the price for the new iPod Classic to 249 Euros (for the 80 GB model)?
I... simply cannot believe this.
Their ridiculous prices has always been my number one reason for criticizing them.
And suddenly, the product I've always wanted more or less becomes affordable.
Couldn't have anyone told me before I let off that rant yesterday??
Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi and me spent a couple of hours lowering the new TV (it's taller than the old one and prevented us from using the projector) and replacing a lot of cables. I rewired the two rear speakers (part of our surround system). With those, you don't just plug in some connector, but you have to cut off a bit of the sheathing at the tip, twist the many copper strings inside so that none of them bends outside, and then stick that into the back of the speaker. Yours truly cut her thumb doing that, but at least the damn things actuallly work =)

Also, while Yama was doing the other cables, I made myself useful by filling up his glass of lemonade and flinging pieces of chocolate across the table in his general direction XD

We also watched DBV-T for the first time ever. We got an antenna so that, in case of severe thunderstorms, we're not cut off from watching TV. Unfortunately, DVB-S is damn vulnerable to weather conditions, while DVB-T doesn't seem to give a damn. It was weird to use that antenna, though, as something like it seems totally obsolete nowadays. But hey, it's digital now, so it still looked pretty good!

Anyway. At this rate, I might take some pics and do a guided tour of this place I so aptly named "Geek-O-Rama". It's clean and rather tidy right now. Also, I love living here so it kinda makes sense ^_~

Here I am, writing from a fresh - and most importantly, completely legal - English-language installation of Windows Vista Enterprise 32 bit.
This is my third one for today because I ran into a rather weird problem.

ExpandCut for geeky woes. Don't read if you're not interested ;) )

Apart from that, I'm madly on love with the OS once again ^__^
I mean, hell, it's gorgeous!
Also, I got most of my drivers (graphics, sound, LAN) delivered via Windows Update. How crazy is that? Well, crazy but certainly convenient.

Right now, I still don't have most of the applications installed that are on my list.
However, my Firefox is completely equipped (OMG, getting all the addons back took an eternity ;_;), I can listen to mucis and all of my emails and bookmarks are still alive. Whee~!!

And my keyboard's fignerprint reader is working as well! For some strange reason, I feel so insecure without it protecting my Windows password *lol*

I also lost two LJ entries I was working on because Semagic saved the files on my C:\ drive. Oopsie-daisy. Seems I just can't set up a new installation of Windows without something being killed. At elast it wasn't anything too important since I can always write stuff again, maybe even better ^_^;;;

(BTW, meet my new "The world is trying to fuck with me but I don't give a damn" icon.)

I think even mentioning this - without telling what exactly it's about - is already a spoiler.
So I don't recommend clicking the cut.
Guess I just need to whine.

On a positive note, [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi gave me his black second-generation Furby (whom I named E-Bay cuz I'm stoopid ^^) because he was acting strange.
He kept stopping in the middle of whathever he was doing and reverted to "listening mode" (And no, he's NOT George Bush *lol*).
My initial suspicion were nearly depleted batteries so I took them out and gave E-Bay the ones I had removed from Nah-Bah (my white Furby). And lo, he was perfectly fine, sang and danced like nothing had ever happened =)
Call me Furby Nurse ^_~

Mum also introduced me to a fun cooking show on German TV today O_O
