After long and careful deliberation (a.k.a. a day running around shaken and confused and a night with hardly any sleep) I decided not to show up at the grocery store today.
Reasons right ahead:
- The woman who was introducing me to the whole thing was unfriendly. I mean, I was careful to ask twice before I did something wrong and she got grumpy about it. Hello?!
- How am I supposed to remember three hundred types of lunch meat? Actually, the position I was supposed to work in usually requires three years of training. Riiiiiight...
- Remembering the stuff they sell isn't all. Each stuff has a number you have to type into cash register. Tree digits. Times three hundred. Holy fuck...!
- Apart from meat and lunch meat, they were also selling cheese which adds another two hundred and fifty types. Whee... not =_=
- I think this job is ideal for housewives who have some experience with cooking, measurements and the like. It's. Not. A. Students'. Job.
- The fact that one and a half weeks ago, they apparenly had two free positions in the butchery says it all. It's just too damn hard for someone with no training in the subject.
- Two weeks of that and I would've become a vegetarian. Which would've been sad since I just love meat. Alright, that one didn't make any sense so just forget it, 'kay?
But it gained me some experience and I did learn a few things from it. Half a year ago - actually, cross that and make it a week - I would've been absolutely terrified to simply walk into some store asking for a job. Now? I laugh about that. Also, things can only get better, eh?
So, my further plan (Yes, I do have one):
- Write some application to the stores I'm supposed to write them to (Apparenly, there's one big chain of grocery stores that only handles jobs that way)
- Do another one or two days of job hunting (I charged Three yesterday and that faithful travel companion is really all I need for that)
- Check the 'net too see whether there's anything free that's somewhat office-related (I'd kill for a translation job)
- Put a private teaching advert into the newspaper. Mmh, traveling around the Ruhrgebiet helping kids with their English... sounds like a lot of fun to me =)
And if nothing helps, we'll start our own company. Anyone with a good business idea care to join us? *lol*
Hell, this helped a lot. Even though I'm still trying not to think of myself as the biggest loser in the country. I know Yama doesn't and hopefully, mum won't either. But the way you look at yourself is totally independent from that, at least in my wicked case.
Maybe I should really see a shrink.
Now, I'mma eat and then, it's off to do the research.
ETA (cuz I'm a sarcastic beast):

What Lunch Meat Are You?
(And no, I haven't forgotten about the song letter meme. I'll do it eventually now that I'm free of that awful, ugly pressue. No idea how I was able to write last night O_o)
Finally, have a recent pic of Tenchi and Jiro:
