... my pathetic, fangirly and utterly stupid contribution to Star Trek's 40th anniversary. Run away if you can XD
Earlier than expected, but this entry just WANTED to be written like, RIGHT NOW.
Two days ago, I actually re-read some diary entries from 1995 (Just for the records: I was thirteen back then).
That was my big Star Trek:TNG period.
And I remember that there were a number of episodes I watched often enough to nearly learn them by heart.
Those episodes had one thing in common, namely a recurring villain: Q.
I really liked him.

Okay, let me rephrase that one:
Boy, did I have one almighty (pun intended, ehe XD) crush on that guy O_o
Actually, I think, back then, it was more about the character than about the actor.
Which makes a lot of sense if you are me. Ahem.
However, these days, I am still absolutely unable to deny the fact that I think John de Lancie is hot as hell.
Shoot me, but that's how it is. Seems that falling for the strange (and substantially older) guys has always been some sort of pattern, at least if you consider the fandoms I belong(ed) to ;)
Q was (and is) one hell of a character. Evil, amusing in a weird sort of way and disgustingly sexy. Eeeee *drools a bit*
Ahem.
The relationship between him and Picard was really... something else.
From today's POV, I'd call it "slashy as fuck".
And I'm not only talking about scenes like this one.
I don't know what the writers were thinking, but well.
If I think back, I remember actually liking that stuff a lot.
Of course, back then, I had no idea about slash and subtext and all that.
But I still found scenes like that very intriguing. Go figure ;)
Well, that's another proof for my theory that the 'net did NOT convert me to slash but that I've always belonged there :D
Anyway, it seems like one of the TNG OTPs is P/Q. I think you have no problems in guessing who the "P" stands for, huh? XD I read three P/Q stories a while ago and found a couple more. Most of them really rock :D
Maybe I'll do some RECs later. We'll see...
PS: Heh. It just occurred to me that in "Deja Q", Q appeared on the bridge, deprived of his powers and he was like, naked. Yum yum. And then, I see thirteen-year old me going "Eeeeee, fanservice" or something XD
Crap, I really need those ;)
PPS: And I forgot something else: One of my first attempts at real writing was a series of fantasy stories based on a Game Boy rendition of Final Fantasy. And it featured Q. Holy crap, that character really influenced me a lot back then. I actually remember QMuse attacking me almost every night to make the stuff even more dramatic and more heartbreaking. Strange guy. Why of course, he was MY muse ;)
PPPS: John de Lancie is not only hot. He's funny, too ^___^
