Okay, just a crapload of random notes that hopefully aren't too boring...

  • I so love the design of it. I mean, Nokia did a lot of weird looking phones during the last few years, so it's nice that they're kinda coming back to their clasical simple, but still beautiful type of style. And I'm really lucky as well cuz I got the silver/black version instead of the all-silver one.

  • The only bad thing that Nokia still didn't handle - and probably never will - is the way you open the phone (to add/change SIM and memory cards or the battery). In fact, it's so damn difficult and dangerous that I nearly damaged the phone on Saturday *whines*

  • But then, there's the display. OMG, those brilliant colours! And the resolution of 208x208 pixels is great to make some really cool looking wallpapers for. ATM, I'm using either the "Powerplant" inlay pic (where Kai and band got their upper bodies painted blue) or the "Majestic" cover.

  • One of the things I'v always adored about Nokia phones is the usability. Seeing mum fighting with her beloved Siemens phones since 1999 really makes me laugh. Usually, you don't even NEED a user manual to handle a Nokia phone. The animated icons look cute, and everything is easy to reach and understand. There's even a favourites list to put the functions you need most, so you can activate them in two seconds. That's how I want my cellphone to be =)

  • Another great addition is the briefcase. That's sort of a password-protected sub folder (Without the briefcase password, you can't open it, even if the phone is powered and unlocked!) where you can store things like passwords and credit card information. This is amazing.

  • Games are fun on the higher resolution display, compared to my Samsung P400. I got a few and installed them via Nokia PC Suite (Love that program, BTW, especially the files browser). I particularly like Tetris as it plays really well using the four-way pad.

  • The calendar is cool and offers a lot more functuions, compared to the one on my Samsung phone. I really love how you can select the type of note to add (Meeting, call, birthday, memo, reminder).

  • Most important: The camera, of course! It even has a night mode, a portrait mode and of course, it can make videos as well. Those use the 3gp codec, which makes the videos really, REALLY small, but both picture and sound are still quite okay. I even downloaded a program which can convert any 4:3 video to 3gp so that I can play it on my phone. That's really fun to play with as well.

  • My data cable hasn't arrived yet, but I managed to connect the phone to my laptop via IrDA (infrared port), which is rather slow but cool. Sending photos that was takes ages, but it's better than nothing. I'll put up some pics taken with my phone soon, but not today.

  • I also tested the mp3 player. For that, I used my fave song of the moment, which is "Last before the storm" by Gamma Ray. The sound seems good, but the headset that was included isn't that loveable, and unfortunately, you can't connect ordinary earphones because of that bloody PopPort. That's kinda sad cuz I could've used the phone as an emergency mp3 player, if only there was a possibility to change the earphones.

  • Then, you can set every mp3 you have on your phone to act as a ringtone. And what could be cooler than a song with actual vocals that's being played as soon as somebody is calling you? Right, nothing ^^ The speakers sound quite good, BTW, as long as you don't use stuff that has a lot of bass. So, no Gamma Ray there *cough* Instead, I use the opening of Di Gi Charat, which sounds cute and is rather short (59 seconds).

  • What really surprised me was that bro didn't know about most cellphones running Java-based OS. Okay, there's Symbian and stuff, but that's only used on phones which I can't afford. Well, Java is stupid and insecure, but it's not quite as slow as one would think. So I have no problem with that ;P

  • As expected, I really do want a bigger memory card. The standard 32 MB get used up rather quickly, as I'm using the maximum quality with the camera, which makes every pic about 500 KB. A 512 MB MMC-card would cost me about 30€, which is a lot of moolah, so I don't think I'll get one before December. Still, having that much storage space will be great.

  • In short, I think the 6230i is the best cellphone ever. No, serious. Of course, I switched it to English language, because that's what I do with all of my electronic devices. And I still can't take my hands off it and have to play with it all the time ^^

  • Finally, something off-topic.
I didn't plan to include any extras on my upcoming Kai Hansen fanlisting. The Tobi one was a lot of work and I don't wanna have two sites like that. But then, there are things like the "Eagle" video clip, which is fun, has a lot of cool poses from Kai in it (plus, he's actually got a beard in that one!!!) and could be considered as something I really want people to see.
So I guess there'll be a screen caps section after all. And it's kinda like me to do it, isn't it? *lol*
