It's bloody 30°C (86°F).
My Coke Light is lukewarm now and I'm already looking up mini fridges on eBay X_X

At least we finally managed to watch that DVD I gave mum for her birthday.
It rocks!
If only laughing your head of wouldn't make you even sweatier ^_^;;;

Eh.
I don't really have anything to say, now do I?
*wanders off*
What's wrong this week? Everybody seems to be sick T_T
And me? Well, I've got what feels like half a cold. But that's it.
*sends health waves and hugs and lotsa nekkid Rock stars to eeeeveryone*
^___^

Am watching some talk show clips with Hugh. Teh fun :D
There's just one thing that kinda struck me... Just how many of those late shows do you have over there?
I mean, we have like, one and a half. I'm counting TV total as one half cuz the talk thingy is only part of it and there's too many other things for it to be a "real" late show.
And then, there's Harald Schmidt of course. But apart from that...
I think we never had two of those at once.
Scary.
But I liked that one with the Scottish host (Late Late Show I think it's called). Awww, Scottish accent ^_^
And Hugh is just funny. And hot. And I love how he doesn't get the whole "sex symbol" thing.

I just wished I could watch stuff like that without fuckin' downloading it from the 'net.
We only get CNN and the only thing they air is The Daily Show GLobal Edition. Okay, I love that one, but somehow, I hardly ever notice when it's running O_o
Damn, I want to emigrate. Like, now T_T

I love House!!! *squeess*
The series just started here about two months ago (which is a completely normal gap, I guess). Even though I missed the first two episodes, I guess I've never gotten attached to a series that quickly and heavily, except maybe for SG-A. Actually, the writing and the dialogues are that good they have me constantly jump up and down, sqealing. During every bloody episode. And this is only the dub, dammit!!!

What frustrates me to no end is the fact that 99.8% of the German viewers prolly have NO IDEA who Hugh Laurie is. Tho mum and bro were surprised when I told him that he's a comedian ;)
And then, the fact they heavily miscasted his voice actor. That guy's voice is about five octaves deeper than Hugh's real voice O_o
Well, I'll try and see whether I'll be able to grab the original episodes. That way, I'll be able to watch 1x01 and 1x02 and have a look at more episodes (We're still on season one, the episode that aired last night was 1x07 "Fidelity", the German title was far too long and complicated to remember* X_X). I'm scared of the medical terms, though. On the other hand, I don't get a word of tose in the German version either, and I'm still able to follow the things going on. Actually, I think that's done this way on purpose *lol*

One thing scares me, tho. When watching Blackadder, I thought "Okay, so Hugh Laurie is a good comedian. But that's about it. There are comedians I like THAT way, but not him." Okay, things were a little different when he played Ludwig in 2x06 "Chains", but only a LITTLE. Ahem. God, he was evil back then XD
And now I'm gradually developing a "thing" for him anyway. Guess it's the role. Yeah, that must be it. And the stubble. And those huge, scrary eyes. God, that blue is almost unreal! *shake shead*

Some links, just because:

http://www.fox.com/house/
http://www.housemd-guide.com/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_%28TV_series%29

Why do you Americans get Hosue merchandise? I want that "House VS. God" t-shirt *sobs* Or the DVDs. Or both :D

* This is a thing that keeps annoying me. I like short, striking episode titles. And a lot of UK/US series seem to use them. But why do the German dubbing people ALWAYS change them to those effing long "Bla bla bla bla bla fuckin' bla" ones? WHY???? It's not about length, guys, at least not in this case *rofl*

*waves Finnish flag*
(Cuz I now actually HAVE one, ahahaha!)

So last night, I tried out the newly set up Kan-chan (ni). And I was surprised to see his performance is even better than that oif his predecessor O_o
At least I don't think I could watch big video files directly from DVD on Kan-chan ichi. Gosh, that made me happy :D
But it might also mean that I'm gonna watch Stargate Atlantis. AGAIN. O_o;;;

I also bought Kan-chan's bday pressie today (How weird can a person be, buying presents for her electronic friends gadgets friends? XD).
But instead of a HDD, it's - a brand new new battery!

The whole story, beware - boring! )

Another scary thing: Max's WinXP now looks like Mac OS X thanks to Flyakite. Rocks, even though I had to put the start menu back to the bottom to the screen as the Mac default (top) tends to confuse me.

Not.
Especially not when it involves THAT:

Heck, I can SEE why some people don't like him wearing that.
Still, for some reason I never seem to be able to stop staring at pics like this one.

Reminds me of those four million occasions where a certain person asked me "Why do you like/don't like this or that?". Hell, I don't know! I never know! That's what these things are all about. You like something because you like it. At least that's how things usually are with me.

What's with that guy appearing at the Gamma Ray message board yelling stuff about Hitler?
Jeez, I guess the internet will never change...
Buit it kinda fits. Again.
Today during lunch, the usual trio (me, bro, mum) were talking - and agreeing - about how the World Cup won't do this country any good, neither economically nor reputation-wise.
The people who think we'll all be Nazis until the end of time won't change their mind just cuz a couple of soccer matches were held here. Rubbish.
So the fan turned out to be running into the right direction after all.
But actually, things got even worse for the thing is... well, damaged.
Which means that a) I need to buy another one of those blasted things tomorrow and b) I have to tahe the whole computer apart again to replace the non-working fan.
Good times indeed.
WHY FOR GODS SAKE WHY AM I ALWAYS THE ONE TO GET THE DOGSHIT HERE? HUH?!?
Did I mention that crippling headache that actually made me dizzy when I was drying some dishes half an hour ago? Nice as well.

But if things go well (And I'd really like it if they did, just this once. Pretty please?) I'll be back with a fully built and running comp tomorrow afternoon.
Fingers crossed, I guess.
Should that really happen, I'll be trying to catch up on comments and uploads. Until then, bye *waves* *winces*

... was craptastic.
Not only did my computer parts NOT show up (Heh. As if Trans-O-Flex had ever bothered visiting such a place at the weekend) which means I'll have to wait until tomorrow (=_=), but somewhere around 6 PM, our itnernet connection broke down. Great fun. Not.
The weird thing was that our DSL modem said it was connected all right but the line was still dead like a very dead thing. ATM, it looks like it decided to work again.
And why the heck was I that tired? Lucky I didn't drink any beer or I might've been in bed at 7 PM >:|

*sigh* Anyway.
Some positive things to get things balanced again:

- Had great fun with teh family sitting around outside and chatting
- Watched tons of Max Headroom which still rocks
- Managed to download that little surprise and am now uploading it so you can grab it later
- Mum's birthday present arrived (More about that in a freidns-only post later)
- Found a 32 bit copy of WIn XP with added Service Pack 2

Yeah. Guess that's all for now. C ya in a coupole of hours ^___^

( Apr. 24th, 2006 05:08 pm)
Added to my kinda disorganized and not really existing list of things I'd like to see but probably never will: Max Headroom.
Heck, this SO sounds like something I'd truly enjoy. And it's Eighties stuff as well <3
They say it ran on German television in 1990. Back then, I probably was still too young to pick it up. Another weird - but very, very German - thing is that they made kids' audio cassettes from it O_O
But then, I don't really care about the dub. On the contrary. They just need to release it to DVD somewhere. Anywhere, really. I mean, I didn't get that codefree DVD player for nothing, y'see? Geez, every old, crappy series is released to DVD nowadays, why not this one?
Not fair. So. Not. Fair.
*runs off to check P2P*

€dit: There seem to be a few episodes available on P2P. Well, I guess I have to live with that. *startsDLing pilot episode* I'd have gladly bought the series, but if those commercial idiots keep refusing to accept my money like that... They'll see where that's gonna lead 'em *pouts* *disappears in a cloud of pixels*

another €dit: That stuff on ebay.com and ebay.co.uk SO screams "bootleg" at me *lol* In that case, I'd rather keep my money and try to DL the videos, the quality will most likely be the same. I wonder why nobody notices that actual money is to be made here if only people got off their lazy asses and made "real" DVDs T_T

teh final €dit: OMFG I found two torrents that have like, the complete series, plus UK movie *dies* And. They. Are. Working *dies again* Digital Age, I love thee <3
(in no particular order)

- Watched episode one of Hoshi no Kaabi and almost died of severe sugar shock <3

- Arrived at mum's car (cute, little Corsa) only to find it standing unlocked, keys in ignition, in front of our house. Do they want it stolen that badly?

- Cuddled my little Goleo plushie that arrived today

- Cancelled an order at Nuclear Blast cuz I want a new HDD first

- Saved yet another day cuz mum forgot to record her favourite show last night, but fortunately (for her) I did tape it :3

- Listened to SEB 167 like, ten times in a row. The improvement compared to Vol. 166 (which sucked big time) is almost unearthly O_o

- Talked to hun who finally found a hardcore otaku friend to chat with *happy for him*

- Played family taxi once again (both to our lunch [chips and sausages for the guys, kebap for the girls] and to bro *lol*)

- Had coffee and cake on our veranda - big fun indeed =)

- Discovered that at least some of my computer's regular crashes are caused by the graphics card's drivers =_=

Yeah. In half an hour, I'll be going offline to play some We Love Katamari. Still didn't make it past the bleeding tutorial >:O
C ya tomorrow *waves*

People who know me know that I tend to cry over music. Not because it's sad or anything, just because to me, melodies are an extremely, extremely emotional thing. Actually, I tend to get emotional over tunes that are not sad at all.
Anyway.
One of the first songs that made me cry - and probably will continue to do so for all eternity - is "The last unicorn".
I loved that movie when I was a kid even though some parts scared me to death and I don't think I understood a lot of what it's about.

But I liked the skeleton (I read the English voice was doine by Rene Auberjonois [Odo in DS9] - Woah!) ;) And the music was good.
For the German version, they did at least one strange thing. One or two of the songs are neither dubbed nor subtitled. Instead, they make the German vocie actors speak on top of the English stuff that's being sung. No kidding. Stupid, cheap, ridiculous.
But I think I can make an elaborate guess on why they did that.
Back then, Disney was the only thing in animation that was really big. And The last Unicorn wasn't Disney so it might have had pretty low priority (and budget) when being dubbed. Though, some of the German voice actors were pretty good, and one or two even quite famous. Still, that over-dubbing thing is inexcusable and I've never seen anything like it in any other movie. Rawr.

And now I sit here and wonder why I never bought the thing on DVD. I mean, that movie might be good when dubbed, but I guess watching the original would be even cooler.
BTW, did you know that Christopher Lee voiced King Haggard in the German version as well? Well, that explains the accent XD Good job, though, seeing how German is bloody difficult ;)

And then, what's with Madonna? I never really liked her or her music, in fact, some of the more recent songs made me wonder about whether she's trying to make fun of her fans. And now she put out the second song in a row that I simply adore to death. Something's very wrong here O_O
(Though, someone should've told her that she's completely mispronouncing the "Ich bin traurig" (I'm sad) part in the intro XD)

There's this girl on the Edguy message board, nicknamed Sammet-Playgirl. She seems to be your usual Tobi fanatic, but that one post of hers finally convinced that she's a lot worse.

Bascially, she's saying that she's sitting at home, crying her eyes out about how Tobi keeps complaining that he can't find Mrs. Right, but on the other hand, he doesn't let anyone come close to him (read: She wants to meet him and have him but he doesn't).
God, this is so bloody pathetic. How old is she? From the sound of her writing, I'd be surprised of she was any older than 14.
I mean, lusting over Metal musicians is one thing. But actually believing in a possibility to like, hook up with 'em is... ludicrous. Simply childish and stupid. And whining about it on an official message board is... off-scale, stupidity-wise. Really, I don't know how some of the other forum members might react to this...
Believe me, I was this close to replying to that thread and telling her my opinion >:O

I just read my flist and on [livejournal.com profile] cruel_sisters LJ, there was a comment by a guy named Magnus Becker. My jaw really dropped when I saw that. Some stuff about a journal against sexual exploitation and - which is most important - about linking back to him.
Now this is something I have to tell you about. The problem ios that if you're not German, you probably don't know about it at all. But I'm here and trying to be useful, so here's the story is short cut:
That guy is a troll. He's been disturbing the German weblog scene (and various message boards as well, IIRC) for a couple of years now.
He caused a major uproar on a German weblog hosting site called myblog.de in early 2005. I like to call it the "Kelly incident" (Kelly was the 15-year old girl he pretended to be). He created a weblog on there and pretened to be a teenage girl fighting against sexual exploitation. The thing is that his writing style the fact that it was a grown guy who was behind all the writing. But still it seems that a number of people fell for him and linked back to his blog, quickly getting it on top of the list of most read weblogs, which seemed to have been one of his aims. Well, to get more and more popular, he commented on every weblog and guestbook asking people to link back to him, staring flamewars with people who told her him to fuck off and finally got his ass banned from the place. I followed the whole story back then and read quite a lot about him so I know what's behind this.
Seems like he's reverting to other methods now. Like, Myspace and whatever comes in handy or is trendy at the current time. And it looks like this includes Livejournal as well. Plus, he's still running various sites, weblogs and whatnot. And I thought he was gone for good. How very wrong I was indeed.
My point is that he's only trying to get attention. Don't reply to anything he's telling you, merely delete his stuff and - most importantly - DO NOT link back to him.
The fact that he even switched to English to do the same stuff he's been doing for I dunno how many years just creeps me out like nothing else.
BTW, people who are capable of reading German can still read my detailed report about the 2005 events concerning Mr Becker here.
Off to report this on my German blog now. This disturbing piece of news just HAS to be spread!

€dit: *lol*, [livejournal.com profile] cruel_sister , you deleted that guy's comment faster than I could write ;)

Speaking of the sovver World Cup...
Do you like Goleo, the official mascot?
A lot of people in Germany seem to think he's stupid or annoying or whatever. But I say he's cute. I mean, who could resist a seven-foot smiling lion that holds a talking ball? I can't ^^ Actually, I'm planning to get a small Goleo plushie to carry around while the World Cup is being held (June).
What I didn't get was why some said it's weird that he doesn't wear any pants. Does Donald Duck wear pants? Idiots. Probably it's just us Germans doing what we're best at: Being negative -_-

The official site has a nice gallery here.
Went for breakfast again. Took some pics because... well, because I can XD

Mine :)

left: bro's, ahead: mum's

Mum explaining how offside works (World Cup soon) ^^

BTW, if you look at the file names, you can learn what breakfast means in German. Frühstück ^^

(Beware, geek stuff ahead!)
My USB-stick (Kuro-chan) now runs both Portable Firefox and Thunderbird. That way, I can take my bookmarks and email with me.
The only problem that's left is the fact that I can't type while the USB stick is connected. My PC only has two USB ports, and both of them are constantly in use (tablet + keyboard). To get that outta the way, I bought a 4-port USB hub.
I really wonder why I keep buying pink things. Hello, I hate pink! O_o

Yeah I know, I'm posting despite not having anything interesting to say. Maybe it's just me trying to distract myself from myself. From the fact that I'm no good after all. Crap crap crap crappy me. Shippai da yo, boku....

So, here I am. Back from... No, wait. I'm still at hunny's place, trying to catch up on the stuff I missed while bein away for... just one and a half days? Sure feels like it's been a lot longer O_O
When did my flist become so crowded and cool and full of some of the greatest folks I ever met online? No idea, but I love it *huggles flist*

Er...
Unfortunately, the only thing I have to post is... reviews!

Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
So cute and funny. Shame on me for never having watched the other Wallace & Gromit short films T_T But I'll try to catch up on them eventually. Well, I just fell in love with Gromit <3 He's so amazing. Even though he never speaks, the things he tells us with his eyes are more than what most of the other characters have to say *cuddles clever dog*

Kung-Fu Hustle
Chinese humour and tons of cool fighting scenes. If you liked "Shaolin Soccer", you're gonna LOVE this one!

Hun also bought "Fatal Frame 3" (German title: "Project Zero 3", Japanese title: "Rei Zero 3" [probably]) which we tried out last night. Wow, the graphics really improved quite a lot. But I guess I HAD to say that, seeing how we simply skipped the second part *lol*

And I played a bit of "We love Katamari" (Japanese title: "Minna daisuki Katamari" - so the Western title is actually a mistranslation as it should be "Everybody loves Katamari" *ouchies*) as well. It's quite... uh... different, and I'm not only talking about the controls. The whole thing is just wacky and colourful and extremely unusual.
Another thing I like is that when you buy "We love Katamari" in Germany, you basically get the US version, converted to PAL, with a German manual added to it. In other words: The music and the songs are in Japanese while the dialogues and on-screen text are in English. Wheee ^_^

Tomorrow, we're gonna catch up on SG-A and SG-1. And I'm gonna try not to disappear for two whole days AGAIN ;)
I should really go on IM more often. That way, good friends might not turn into old friends THAT quickly *lol*

Lesson of the day: Don't turn a dance/pop song into a Rock song without any change to the vocals. Sounds strange! (I'm talking about TAMAKI Nami's new single "My way" and the terrible remix of "Prayer" that's on it. That track feels a bit like taking Gamma Ray's version of "It's a sin", removing Kai's vocals and adding the original singing by Neil. No thanks *shudders*)

1) Of the various cultures, ethnicities or nationalities you belong to, which most strongly do you consider yourself?
None, really. Most of the time, I really hate this country and its inhabitants.

2) Is there a culture you cannot claim heritage from but which you feel quite close to?
Uh... I've met people from a lot of cultures on the net and most of them were really nice. So I couldn't decide on a single one.

3) What's one language you wish you knew fluently?
English, haha XD Woah, being sarcastic today, huh? Anyway, I guess Japanese would be cool. No more reading of subtitles ^_~

4) If you could move anywhere in the world and be guaranteed a job, etc., where would you go?
The US. Sounds strange coming from me of all people, but that's what I feel just now =)

5) If you had a time machine, and could witness any one event without altering or disturbing it, what would you want to see?
That's an old question and I think I answered that at least two times.

--------------------------------

OMG *lol* I was listening to that childrens' audio play just now and there's an Indian family and they were talking about one of their gods who's the son of Parvati and Shiva *giggles uncontrollably and hugs [livejournal.com profile] silicondreams for writing those masterpieces*

Bad idea: Sending songs by an artist who mainly puts out slow, gentle ballads to a metalhead.
Even worse: Asking said metalhead whether she liked them and forcing her to be honest -_-

I think there's not a single reader left on my German blog. That might be cuz I've been writing about the stuff that's going on.
Okay, that's kinda what I've been doing for a couple of years now, but the stuff itself did change a lot recently.
I wonder how many people decided not to come back after having to look at one of the slash-y pics I've been posting XD
BTW, I changed the name of this one to henjo_hand_ass_kai.jpg before uploading it. Made complete sense to me ;)

Apart from that, today was one of the worst days in a long time. Blog-wise, I mean. No good ideas, not a single funny thing to tell, I didn't even feel like doing one of my usual picspams -_- I guess things can only improve. Tomorrow, there'll be another day and all that stuff XD

Somehow, I think that people whose only conversational topics are the weather and the fuel prices are just sad. And having them around when you're clearly not like that is even sadder. For you.

Well, I do have interesting things to talk about. I guess. Maybe not. Ah, whatever :P

It just occurred to me that I missed out on an important detail when I wrote my report of that Edguy gig on Feb 22.
There were a number of other people who arrived in front of the hall about the same time I did (read: far too bloody early :|). They talked about various things, but this one is what they were discussing right before one of them insulted His Slu... no, wait, I am so not calling Kai that ^_^;;;
Er... right. Back to those guys talking about Tobi. Y'know, there's this new tour outfit he's wearing. The one with the grey pants. I guess everyone has seen it already and there's no doubt about it being pretty revealing. Nothing new, though. My Kai-insulting "friends" also added stuff like the fact that dear Tobi was sweating through his pants at another concert and whatnot. Anywho. The gist of their conversation was that - tight pants or not - there really is not much to reveal.
Well, thank you very much for that, people. I wonder if Tobi noticed just what I was staring at studying for a rather large part of the gig. Having been right in front of him, he pretty much might have O_O;;;

I also found a heap of new Oberhausen pics just in case someone wants to form their own opinion ^_~

Maybe it's a good thing that this particular piece of information wasn't included in the original report.
Whatever.
Oh, before I forget: Thanks go to the Rockfic crotch shot thread for reminding me ;)
