It was, um... pretty good, I guess.
I arrived WAY early (as pointed out by the British woman in charge of the candidates preparation room) which was good.
Sat around for almost an hour and watched the two girls who took the exam right before us being allll nervous and working out strategies *giggles*
B. (Polish girl in 12th grade who wants to study geology) and me were quite okay and merely chatted with aforementioned British woman who was awfully nice.
When we finally started, we were 15 minutes late even though the very first group had started five minutes early. Don't ask, it's a mystery to everyone.
The two examiners, one of whom was talking to us and the other who was just taking scary notes, were actually wife and husband. Aw ^^ They, too, were perfectly friendly. They first asked us some personal questions. I liked how we got them in turns so we could alternately speak and listen. I also liked my questions a bit better than the ones B. got. And then we got a little task that we were supposed to discuss between the two of us. And would you believe it, we actually managed. Instead of just taking turns to say stuff, we actually referred to what the other one had just said. Worked like a charm.
This one was a two-part task as well so we had to make sure a) not to forget the second part and b) to have some time left to actually discuss it. And guess who steered the discussion into the direction of question #2 once she felt the times was right? Yep, that'd be quiet little me. I dunno, I just thought B. was too uncoordinated to do it herself. Also, she's younger and probably had lost track of the whole thing at some point. Right now, I'm somewhat amazed at myself.
I was also the one to start speaking on all the collaborative questions. No diea why. But it's weird for someone who's as shy as me ^_^;;;
BTW, the you get penalized for saying too much was pretty pointless since everything was done in turns and after two or three minutes, the examiner interrupted us and went on to the next question. So, no need to worry at all.
Then, each of us got a card with a question we had to answer and the other one had to listen to what we said cuz afterwards, we had to comment. We ended up agreeing with each other all the time *lol*
Finally, there was a bit of guided discussion about the topic (travel, which was okay, could've been a much,. much worse subject!) and suddenly, the examiner said Thank you. That's the end of the exam. You may leave now . I was surprised because the 19 minutes had gone by rather quickly.
So we left the examination room, headed back to the prep room, grabbed our bags, wished the next group good luck and of we were.
Overall, it went pretty okay. On two occasions, I kinda lost track of what I was saying and B. forgot a few words, but I suppose that's normal. I mean, we sure were excited and stuff. Afterwards, B. told me she was sweating like hell but for some reason, I got calmer and calmer as the exam went on. But that's really like me, once I'm really into what I'm doing, I just go with the flow and nibble my way through whatever it is ^_^
So now I'm sitting here, waiting for
