So, my Windows Vista adventure is over.
I'm running Win XP again and am a lot more happy with it than I should ^_^;;;
Why? Well, there are several reasons, actually:

1. Vista sucks, at least on my machine.
It took more than an hour (!) to install, my system slowed down quite a bit, I couldn't get my Sound Blaster to work AT ALL (and if you know me you know that for me, there's nothing worse than a silent computer) and writing on my USB stick destroyed two thirds of the data that were on it (Luckily, I had backup copies). My pen (re-branded Aiptek) did work somehow, except for the double-click, which makes it really uncomfortable to work with. If you're used to Windows 2000/XP, the way the buttons and bars are postitioned in Vista will confuse you like hell. Suddenly, you'll be unable to do the simplest things and you'll just want the old system back T_T The only thing that's really awesome is the new look: Black taskbar, gleaming, green status bars and many shades of blue used in buttons and while marking files. Really stylish! Also, the icons are no longer bitmaps but vector graphics, so you can resize them to fill the whole screen (!) and they still look great and show a lot of detail.
In short: Windows Vista is still in beta state, and now I know why. The only reason to keep the thing would be the way it looks. But I don't need an OS that looks cool but can't be worked with the way I'm used to. Once it's released, however, it might end up being quite interesting.

2. My copy of Win XP looks cooler now.
Somehow, it made me sad to remove Vista, because by doing that, I would be going back to the usual look of XP, which is OK, but once you know the Vista one, seems really boring. But then, there is such a thing as themes and I figured there had to be a way to change XP's look to at least mimick that of Vista. Some searching, and within ten minutes, I had my good, old XP look the way it is now.

Windows Vista desktop

The real thing. And yes, that grass thingy is the default wallpaper O_O Notice the black taskbar (and the "evaluation copy" message in the lower right corner XD). Also have a look at the size of the icons and how detailed they look (except for the WinAmp one). That's vector graphics fer ya ^_^ The recycle bin has changed to a glass - very weird. Unfortunately, I didn't take a screenshot of the Windows Explorer and all that, but if you're bored, you could try and google "Vista 5112 screenshots" or something similar. But believe me, it's dead confusing!

Windows XP (Vista-styled) desktop

The fake, a.k.a. my copy of Winows XP after running a theme patch that forces Windows to accept themes that weren't made by Microsoft. Next, I installed a set of Longhorn/Vista themes (again, do a search to find all that stuff, it's really simple) and applied the Aero one ("Display Properties" -> "Appearance"). OMG, I love this, especially the blue buttons and stuff. Reminds me a bit of Suse Linux and maybe even Mac OS.

Well...
Back to business!

Another cool Tobi live pic Expandfeat. teh dalmatian pants: )

Someone on Edguy's boards posted this short thingy from Wacken:
it was a really, really great gig. Tobi was really crazy that day....and he had some special words , he said to the audience when he saw all the wet boys and girls...
in German: "Hey Wacken, seid ihr nass?...wenn ihr nass seid....sind wir auch nass..."
in english: "Hey wacken, are you wet?..if you're wet, we're wet, too..."
...then he took his water and put it over his head.....pretty cool

Sounds funny. Wet Tobi *giggles* Oh, that reminds me of this pic. I was discussing some of the new pics with Anke when she gave me the link to this and said "Please tell me that this is all just water" *rofl* Well, I honestly COULDN'T tell her that cuz it isn't ^_^;;;

Anyway, I might take one of the Dalmatian pics and turn it into a LJ layout soon. "Take me away" is just too old...

Hang on... I just remembered I have a movie lying around that eMule had finished JUST before I started my Vista experiment. Completely and utterly forgot about that *lol* Guess I'll have a look at that now
