It looks like a thunderstorm is about to come up. Shit, and I haven't installed that PDA application that calculates the exact distance of the storm from the time space between lightning and thunder -_-
Yeah, my PDA. It's an obsolete Palm m100 only, it's used, it runs on normal batteries instead of a built-in one, it only has 2 MB of each RAM and ROM, and it doesn't have Flash memory, so, if you take out the batteries for more than sixty seconds, it loses all data. But y'know, I love the little cutie to death! I mean, it has all the functions I want (calendar, planner, note and memo pads, games...) and I can always download new applications from the net and install them. There are thousands of freeware programs written for Palm OS, and some of them are even weirder than your average Windows stuff. And I even got a CD-ROM containing tons of stuff with it, plus a wonderful leather case. That's the benefit of used stuff, you sometijes get extras that the former owner bought as an addition ^_^ The 2 MB thing isn't that bad as it sounds as most progs use less than 20 or even 10 KB O_O And switching between them, writing stuff etc. ist pretty fast. Well, the battery thing is also less of a problem than you might think. The m100 uses the same ones as my mp3 player (AAA size), and if there's anything that I have in my bag ALL THE TIME, it's those batteries. Plus, the thing has been running for eight days now, without me needing to change them ONCE. That's the best thing about "old" PDAs compared to "new" ones (that have colour displays, play mp3s, make coffee... well, maybe not that, but close to it *lol*): They use very little energy.
I'm currently browsing some sites, searching for useful freeware utilites. I already installed some and most of them are excellent. I have a countdown (currently counting down to September 5 - Edguy release day!), a moon phase proggie, a data base that shows German holidays, a calculator for non-metric measurements (and boy, do I need that XD), a small application that turns my PDA into a mock-phaser (y'know, the standard weapon from Star Trek) and even a voodoo doll I can name and torture as I like (tried Paris Hilton first - felt good >:D). Wow, and there's still like, 80% of memory left.
Guess I'll have to search for more. And hey, I won't get lost, even if there are dozens of progs installed. I can group them and switch through them very easily, for it's Palm OS, and not stupid Windows ^_^ While I'm at it, there's another major aspect I love about Palm OS: When you're working with any tool, like writing a memo or adding a date to your calendar and then, you switch to another application - guess what happens? Yeah, by Windows standard, the data would be lost cuz you didn't save. Well, Palm OS saves automatically once you leave your proggie. I was pretty surprised by that, what with being used to the Windows way of doing that for almost ten years now. But it was a nice surprise.
So, to cut a long story short: I loooove my cute, little m100, it's probably the best thing I ever bought for 9€ XD
BTW, I named it "Iso-chan", short for isogashii, meaning busy in Japanese. Why? Cuz the main purpose of any PDA is to keep your work, dates etc. organized. Well, mine is more of a toy right now, but well ^_^;;;
The only thing I need now is a new cover cuz the one I got looks a bit "used". Yes, that's right, the m100 can switch covers, just like many cellphones can! Well, I won't change colours, instead, I'll stick to the standard black. Those covers are available on eBay, guess I'll be able to get one for around 5€. That'd be nice. And I'll keep my eyes open just in case another docking station appears (BTW, the correct term is "cradle", which I hate, it's not a baby, but a computer >:O). That'd look awesome on my desk ^_^

Oh, yeah. This is something my PDA reminded me about:
Last week, a CD-ROM exploded in bro's CD-RW drive O_O Holy crap, that wasn't nice, as both CD and drive are gone now. Our parents were kinda stupefied cuz neither of them knew that there's a possibility of something like that to happen. But there is. Wow, the drive looked scary, what with the sides bulging from the force of the detonation. Bro said the band was really loud. Lucky I wasn't there when it happened XD Well, bro disassembled the thing and we had some fun re-arranging the pieces of the broken CD: We made some kind of puzzle out of it *lol*

Last thing: As you can see, I got SEB 158 - by direct download, and I think I know who put that up. And that means I have to say one thing, even though he can't read it: Kiitos, zomg!!!
