We (that is, "Election 2004" class) just noticed that doomsday is gonna happen next Thursday. Inauguration, hurra. Did Fahrenheit 0/11 thingy today and I spent the wholelesson trying to remember the name of the voice actor who played Michael Moore in the German dub. It was not until four hours later when I was on my way home that it leaped to my mind: Walter von Hauff! All of his important roles are on that page, click to see. Well, apart from the fact that he does half of the supporting roles for South Park, so you can hear him in practically every episode O_o Wow, he's exactly the same age as my dad ^_^ Still, how _could_ I forget his name? He's one of the big six* after all T_T
* big six = term conceived by me to describe the five voice actors from the German dub of "Monty Python's Flying Circus", which is one of the best German dubs ever, IMHO. It was done by the lovely people of CMP (*bows*) and they finally made a small site about their work here. All five of those voice actors are brilliant, and one of them is my absolute fave, Kai Taschner (I got his autograph from an online friend, Kai even wrote "to Jessy" on it =D). The translation is great, and where there was a pun that couldn't be translated, they just made a new one. Absolutely amazing, some stuff is even better than in the original XD You should see how they re-did the "court scene charades" skit, unbelievably cool ^_^
There is a German sub as well, I think it was made in 1991. I saw a couple of these episodes as well but couldn't stand it very long as the translation is horrible and there is an awful lot of typos in there as well. Terribly unprofessional, and as far as I know it was done by one of the state networks. Shame on you, ARD (I think it was one of their local affiliates, maybe the NDR but my mind might be deceiving me there).
In short: If anyone hasn't seen the Flying Circus yet, I'd recommend to watch it in the original - without subs - or dubbed.
Er... wow, where did this posting end up? Oh well ^_^;;;
BTW, the subject came from a great article I stumbled upon while trying to research one or two things about a certain language that I have absolutely no idea about even though two thirds of my favourite bands speak it as their mother tongue. Shame on me -_-

Okay, here's what I promised, another round of "Jessy posts droolworthy pics and writes stupid fangirlish comments to go with 'em". Yeah ^_^
Those pics were taken at ProgPower V (September 2004) where Timo Kotipelto joined Edguy (Wow, that must have been Eight Heaven O_o) on stage to perform a song together. Don't ask me which song, cause I don't know. But still, it's amazing that this has already happened before I even started dreaming about it *lol* And now, without further ado, the PICTURES!

ExpandTobi and Timo. On the same stage. Now I can die happily. Or something XD )

Now, wasn't that nice? Just like Christmas and birthday on the same day. And another Christmas. And another...

Also, be sure to read this interview. Really funny and it also reveals an important fact about dear Screaming Diva, or should I say Lazy Diva?

By the way, did you know that we don't have a word for "gasp" in German? Makes me bloody furious. You try to write dramatic/emotional/soap opera-ish stories without a word like "gasp". Impossible >.<
Now, my idea is to simply take over the English verb and use it like a German word.
So, out of "to gasp" we make "gaspen" ("-en" is the German verb ending denoting an infinitive). The thing would most likely be conjugated like this:
Ich gaspe (I gasp)
Du gaspst (You gasp)
Er gaspt (He gasps)
Sie gaspt (She gasps)
Es gaspt (It gasps)
Wir gaspen (We gasp)
Ihr gaspt (You gasp)
Sie gaspen (They gasp)
Holy crap, there are far too many consonants X_X
Okay, that idea might not be as good after all *lol*

Languages, languages. Weird things, they sure are... *floats off in a linguistic-philosophical cloud*
