Meeresfrüchte: die (Pl.) (zusammen zubereitete) Kleinfische, Muscheln, Krebse usw. "Pizza mit Meeresfrüchten"
(From my German dictionary, aka "Deutsches Wörterbuch")
It's interesting that a lot of Germans - especially those who have never learned a second language - believe their language to be the richest in vocabulary, the most poetic and logical one in the world. But when you get confronted with languages like English and Japanese, you realize that things are not as easy as they seem.
Example: Why the heck do we Germans call seafood "Meeresfrüchte" - fruit of the sea? They're not fruit = plants, but animals. How can anyone in their right mind come up with a term like this? I never thought "Oh, what a nice fruit" when I saw a shell or a lobster °_°
Hey, isn't there a chewing gum called "Juicy Fruit"? Next, someone is gonna invent a new product called "Sea Fruit" and that might just as well taste like crab, for all the logic out dear German language seems to have XD
Conclusions. One: Learning new languages tends to show weaknesses and strengths of your mother tongue. Some people I know could really need something like that ~_~
Two: Being German sucks big time. Being a German who speaks English is quite ok, actually ^_^;;;
