Update on the "Star Trek: Borg" issue!
Well, even though I most certainly WOULD be able to get my hands on the thing, albeit for a price that's kinda ridiculous for a piece of software that old (but then, it's probably rare and sought after), it probably will not run on Windows XP. On the other hand, a search on eMule returned a file called "patch". And I downloaded it.
So now I have a Windows XP patch for a game I don't even own. It's a bit sad, really.
It also seems that the thing was indeed never released in Germany. Which is a good thing because that way, I won't accidentally get stuck with a dubbed copy ;)
However, I was able to get my hands on a number of clips from the game. One word: Motherfuck. I mean, talk about "Q at his best" X_X
The moment he introduces himself by saying "My name is Q - it's short for Q" you know that this thing is gonna be great. And it is.
Okay, the game is bascially you clicking yourself from video sequence to video sequence. Which, BTW, is very significant for the time it was made. FMV, anyone? [/video game history mode]
But what's so bad about that? It's such a pleasure to watch John doing exactly what he is best at *sigh*
Some of my fave moments from the few clips I found:
The following is a quote from here (though I had to correct how they wrote John's last name cuz I happen to know how he himself writes it ^^):
Yep, that one was more than impressive ;)
Another fave of mine - this time, very funny - was that part where you obviously have to find your way around the USS Righteous. In one possible outcome, you get lost in one of the corridors. Suddenly, there's the famous white flash and Q appears - dressed in a leisure-y outfit, sitting on a sunbed, around him a couple of girls in bikinis. The whole thing comes complete with Caribbean music! So bloody typical...
Then, dear Q comes up to you, going "Why? Because I can" *dies of ROFL*
I love that man *licks screen*
Not to mention I only know one other game where losing is as much fun, and that is the "You don't know Jack" series.
And - *gasp* - I saw Q as a Borg... and died AGAIN. I mean, I've seen pictures of that, but that's nothing compared to the real thing.
The sene where you get assimilated by him (BTW, his Borg name is "First of Four" XD) is especially spectacular. He puts that eyepiece thingy onto your face and says "You're wondering what you're feeling? That's pain..." Eeeeeeeeee *ded by goosebumps*
The clips can be found on Youtube, they were made by a person called KadratisVelevere.
One more thing: This post would never be complete without those:

:D
BTW, has anyone ever thought about making a gallery sort of thing, showing all the many costumes John wore during his Star Trek appearances?
Someone should. . . . *fights off idea with big stick*

The following is a quote from here (though I had to correct how they wrote John's last name cuz I happen to know how he himself writes it ^^):
As the irritating, haughty (and ever-so-slightly swishy) Q, John de Lancie gives a superb performance that's wasted here. (In one spectacular, skin-crawling death-sequence, he stares at a Defense Systems panel, his eyes wide, shouting, "THE BORG ARE FIRING, WE'RE GONNA DIE!" Then - all the mock terror dropping from his face in an instant - he leers knowingly toward the camera and, with a horrible grin, whispers, "And it's your fault," as the ship and your father get blown to bits around him.)
Yep, that one was more than impressive ;)
