WTF

We were going to give Doctor Who a shot, but I wasn't sure so I checked.
And I don't see how you can start with what'S technically the 27th series and still get like, anything.
Also, I ahte to suggest a series and have [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi hate it.
So what's going on there?
Can you just start watching the 2005 installment without having any knowledge about the stuff that'S been going on prior to that?

For me, the answer was yes. All I knew about Doctor Who was that he was a guy who traveled in time in a big blue box. I've loved the whole thing. Of course, saying that, it's different for everyone, but if you're worried about the backstory, they do a very good job about explaining things to you through his conversations with people around him.

Oh, okay. I guess we'll just give it a try, then. Thanks ^^

Yeah. Heck, I started with Ten instead of Nine and still wasn't confused at all. Plus, the other series don't have Captain Jack *swoon*. As the commenter above me said, there is a lot of backstory, but they work it out so that people don't go "bwuh?" even if it's the fist time they see a Dalek. (Also, keep in mind the first seven Doctors had series that were, after all, Sixties and Seventies stuff. Good, of course...but still Sixties and Seventies stuff.) I say go for it. The new series are really cool.
