In which she showed up to CPE prep class, bearing a novel by Stephen Fry

scene 1
J: "Ah, Stephen Fry. He's good. Got one of his books... something about history..."
Jessy: "Making History. I ordered that but didn't receive it yet."
J: "But I read it in German of course"
Jessy (inside): "Must... not... be... arrogant bitch.... but... Fry... translated... feeling so sick all of a sudden... ugh..."

(BTW, J is a studied librarian. A German one, obviously...)

scene 2
S (looking at book): "Ah, heavy-duty studying?" (she meant for the exam)
Jessy: "Er... no. This is pastime"
S: "You... like that?"
Jessy: O_o

(Hell, that answer sounded like she was saying something like "What, you got eleven fingers?" Yeah, because reading books - and ones in foreign languages to boot - is teh freaky. We do live in strange times indeed...)

scene 3
S (Wed teacher, American): "Is that in German or in English?"
Someone else: "In English, of course"
S (Wed teacher, American): "So you do know who he is, then?"
Jessy: "Of course!!"
Jessy (inside): "... what? Was she seriously having doubts about that?? Ow, that hurts..."

(No comment, really. Other than maybe the fact that S's knowledge of Stephen sounded rather one-sided ;_;)

Aaaand we have a bonus!

Last Monday, we rehearsed oral exams. Well, even that didn't really manage to really make me dread the whole thing. Which means I'm either really confident in my skills or I'm just plain delusional. And right now, I'm not planning on finding out which ;)
Anyway. Afterwards, dear K (Better run before she starts talking or you won't ever get out XD) complained about how difficult the whole CPE thing is for her. And she said it's not because of the language (Which, I think, is simply not tree) or the fact that she's virtually unable to pronounce a "r" (Okay, made that one up - but it's still true *lol*). No, her problem seems to be the selection of topics, most of which which she admitted never having thought about in her life.
Er... the hell...?!
Are we attending the same class? I mean, it's not like we're discussing art history or heavy duty politics here. If you're an averagely intelligent person, it would seem to me that at least some of the topics we dealt and still deal with must have popped up somewhere before.
Sure, I'm the sort of person whose brain always runs on 120% and who prefers thinking about stuff to actually doing things far more than what should be considered healthy. But such defined ignorance towards anything mildly philosophical can't be the standard, now can it?
Also, I realize K is currently working on her PhD in chemistry, but does that have to mean not having any interest in anything else?

Eh. I dun like this. It scares me =_=
