Kai's rather belated birthday present...

... I HAS IT.

It's the DVD of 白蛇伝/Hakujaden/The Tale of the White Serpent
Wow.
Kai sending ME an anime I have never heard of. Talk about crazy.
But I know EXACTLY why he chose it.
It's the oldest colour anime feature film ever (it's from 1958) and Kai seems to be fully aware of the fact that, like him, I love oldschool stuff at least as much as the newest fare.
Gosh, that man never ceases to amaze me.
Well, I guess now I know what to watch tonight =)
Gonna be interesting, I read they only used two voice actors for all the characters. Also, the DVD does have German dub, but also the original with English subs. Good thing, I hate German subs, Japanese translated into that always sound horribly awkward.
Anyhow, I'll tell you more about it tomorrow, not that you'd want to hear it, right? XD

I just noticed, Kai was exactly one year old when that movie was released. Heh... ^_^;;;

Another post on the same day? Wow!

I was just re-reading old entries when I stumbled upon this, written on January 1st, 2008. It's about Kai dubbing Nigel Marven in "Prehistoric Park".
My favourite scene so far [...] was the one in episode 5 where Nigel visits the prehistoric woods and, in a hushed voice, calls them "magic forest". I'm not sure if I've ever heard Kai #2 using the "totally in awe" mode of speaking before, but needless to say, I died.

Well, more than two and a half years later I can say that I have heard him using that hushed way of speaking several times.
... mainly when saying goodbye to me on the phone... ^_^;;;
Just saying *beams*

Looking back at what happened until today, it's almost impossible to believe.
I mean, we met half a dozen times, I slept in his house, we explored Munich, did the live audio play together (or at least that's what I like to think), we watched movies for hours and he showed me his studio and other music stuff and cooked awesome meals for me, he got me my first translating job and I actually got paid for it just yesterday, the first week here when I didn't have internet yet he seemed to be worried and called me so often I was amazed he always plays along with me weird nerdy antics and after a while even started using netspeak himself, and so on.
Really, I know I' not one who gets lucky with stuff on a regular basis, but Kai is one of the few things that just happened to me and changed my life into something better, happier and much more worthwhile.

Thanks, baby.
You mean the world to me, y'know?

Today is the birthday of one of the people who are most precious to me.
I'm proud to be his friend, he's always there and believes in me when even I don't, and certainly have no idea what the heck I'd do without him.
Happy Birthday, Kai!!!

My mafioso )

PS: If you're as confused about the pic as I think you are, let me tell you it's got something to do with the game Mafia II. Kai and a few colleagues did the voice acting for this, but I'm not certain why they did those photo shoots for O_o Maybe I should just ask him XD

Got my student ID and things in the mail yesterday. In other words: I'm really in!!!
English and Japanese at uni Düsseldorf starting mid-October. Hot damn, yesh >:D

Already did my online check-in for tomorrow's flight, my boarding ticket and everything else is printed out.
Not really packed yet, but I'll probably do that in a hurry tomorrow morning *lol*

Plane goes at 3:50 PM, back Wednesday night.
Now, there are what'll hopefully be three great days ahead of me.

Randomage

- My dad forgot my birthday. Meh -_-

- Got another package from Japan with stuff for me and [profile] yamasagi plus my traditional small present to give to Kai in two weeks.

- That's right, it's only a fortnight until I finally get to see him again. Damn, I can't wait :3 I'm SO looking forward to getting into the studio with him, and this time, it'll be different in several ways. Gonna elaborate on that in a forthcoming entry =)

- Today, I used half of my mini Hair Doctor tryout pot I got from Lush. The stuff is very much like henna in terms of yucky-ness, but it smells of peppermint which is nice. Dunno what it does until my hair is completely dired, but it already feels kinda nice and softer than before.

- I also got my antidepressant and thyroid pill prescriptions and when I got to the pharmacy, they actually had both of them in stock for once. Should I be worried? *lol* Dentist appointment tomorrow, but I'm only supposed to get the new fillings polished. So, let's hope he doesn't find anything else worth doing O_O;;;

- Started watching "Japanorama". The show is nicely done, Jonathan Ross is adorkable and I like that, despite his accent, he can at least say some things like "What's this?" in Japanese ^^ Am currently downloading a torrent that has the extra segments as well. DO WANT.

- Finally, I love you all. SRSLY. I have some of the best-est friends one could imagine *hugs everyone* <3

Munich!!!

So, if all goes well, I'll travel to the Bavarian capital once again in early September.
God, I can't wait to hold Kai in my arms again and give him a ton of kisses. I miss him so terribly, it's not even funny *sniffles*
Um... yeah. Someone's being sentimental again ^_^;;;

My parents are paying for the tickets as a birthday present, like they promised <3
I'll be flying from Cologne again because Dortmund is small, boring and malicious (I hope you remember them closing the airport for a few hours during the night and throwing me out onto the street back in November). Also, I love having Pierce Brosnan announce the "Do not leave your baggage unattended" messages ;) *

So, yeah. Another wonderful Munich adventure for me soon. I can't wait =)

* Okay, it's not the ACTUAL Pierce, but his German volcie actor, Frank Glaubrecht. Still, most ppl over here DO recognize him mainly as James Bod, so that's pretty amusing. I wonder why Munich airport hasn't yet hired Kai to do the same? Maybe I should pitch that idea to them while I'm there, maybe even leave a copy of his demo CD or something... *lol*

10 things photo meme

Leave me a comment and I will give you a letter. Then, write 10 things that you love starting with that letter, and a picture. Post the list in your journal. Give out letters to your commenters in return. (Let me know if you want a letter in your comment)

[profile] soviet_star gave me a "T" =)

10 things with T under the cut! )

Am about to write a blog entry about the financial situation of vocie actors in this country.
I have no idea why I'm still trying to change the common prejudice of "Anyone working in the media is lazy and rich", seeing how futile it is.
But I guess I'm just that idealistic...

Teenage Kai picspam?! OMG!

I saved these for a day like today.
In 1972, Kai played a small part in a somewhat famous German crime series called "Der Kommissar". If you look at the year again, you'll notice that back then, he was no more than fifteen years old.
Neddless to say, I somehow managed to get my evil hands on a copy and made a couple of screenshots.
Mind you, it's an old black-and-white recording, so the picture quality isn't anything to write home about.
Still... awwww <3
Enjoy ^_^

Baby Kai under here ^^ )

... and to think he was embarrassed about it... I mean, WHY? Everyone has to start somewhere ^_~

BTW, he actually kept his word and sent me a short email from the studio. Wow... *feels VERY loved indeed* =)

:D :D :D

If you're following me on Twitter, you already know that the "Spring Heeled Jack" DVD is finally done and can be ordered on the website (10€ + 1,50€ for shipping).
Right now, I'm wiating for them to send me details about where to send the payment, and then it's hoping German mail will do their job properly for once :P

Here's the trailer!
Like the whole show, it has LOTS and LOTS of Kai (did I mention LOTS of Kai?) XD

According to this site, my Chinese name is Bei Zhishou (last name - first name).
Of course, I entered Kai's name, too. He turned into Tang Kuaian ;)

Pointless... well, almost XD

AnimagiC is slowly drawing closer so I'm starting to serioulsy think about outfits.
I'm pretty sure on one of the three days I'll wear pretty much the same stuff like on March 15 (the day I saw Kai on stage). I hope his colleagues weren't TOO scared of me ^_^;;;

Speaking of the play, turns out Shinigami-sama (our LaserJet M1522nf multifunction printer) actually lets me scan via network, so here are pictures of my souvenirs:

Pretty boring, but anyway... )

Also, Kai sent my DVD today. And he said he included "a couple of surprises". Wow, SEVERAL of them? Can't wait. SRSLY. ARGH.

Yahoo!

I'm sitting on my parent's veranda. They've gone to see a political cabaret show they've had tickets for since last year. Unfortunately, they didn't have a spare one for me, but I don't mind. It's nice and quiet out here (despite the sheep a few houses away), albeit a bit cool.
We had fun so far, we talked a lot and had BBQ and cake. I checked out the things they've done to the house so far. Looks new and much friendlier since almost everything is white now. Watched some "Chi's Sweet Home" with bro. Had a look at the electrical guitar mum bought for her bday and ordered some pleks on eBay for her ^^ Got a lot of news about former friends and relatives. Am still looking forward to getting back home to [profile] yamasagi and the boys tomorrow.

Also, of course, I've been writing emails to Kai all the way. Here are some news:
- He will be in "Bioshock 2". Yay! Still haven't played part 1 *cough*
- The final performance of his play should be going on right now.
- The DVD with two of th performances arrived. Guess I'll get it next week *squeaks*
- I miss him terribly. Sigh.

Now, I'll go wash my hair, check the basement for sellable eBay stuff and maybe watch some TV.
C ya tomorrow :D

Got a Germanwings newsletter going "Thousands of tickets at reduced prices only until Sunday book now you moron" and so on XD
Yes, YES I got it. Jeez... n need to rub it in like that =_=
What's worse is that all the flights start at Cologne and not at bloody Dortmund which is exactly what I want.
Eek! I need to think of something. QUICKLY.
Mou~ I miss Kai. Wanna seeeee him *flails*

There he is AGAIN... ;)

Today, I was watching some four-part documentary about young people during the Third Reich. Around timestamp 15 minutes... I saw this:

ZOMG WTF BBQ @.@
I had to brighten these because the lighting during that scene was utter crap. Also cut out the TV station's logo which was on the left.
But, honestly, like I could mistake that nose for anyone else's. Yes, what you're looking at right now is Kai Taschner, aged 25. In other words, Baby Kai ^^
What a cutie pie, despite the Nazi uniform. Still, I rpefer today's Kai, mainly because I only really know this version ;) Also, it's not like he's not painfully adorable any more *swoons*

Anyway, the facts.
In 1882, a four-part TV movie called "Blut und Ehre" was shot, depicting a German boy's involvement in the Hitler Youth. Apparently, they took this dramatization, shortened and re-edited it, added documentary bits, called it "Jugend unter Hitler" and released it to be shown in schools. And for some reason, me, being the WWII documentary junkie that I am, got my hands onto it.

Also, a rather crazy detail: Most of the actors were re-dubbed. Including Kai. What the...?! Gotta ask him why the hell that was done because it somwhat boggles the mind O_o

Geez, why do I keep running into Kai when I least expect it? You'd almost think I was doing this on purpose XD

8 days meme: Day 3

Happy for today:

- [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi bought Cherry COke jsut for me <3
- My translation of that NDA was a big success ^^
- It seems that [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi is starting to notice that listening to my advice once in a while might actually be to his benefit :P
- Hearing Kai on Primeval (He's the German vocie actor of Nigel Marven who made a cameo in episode 3x04) :D

Sentai music mania/Nerdy Kai

Guess who now has all 33 Super Sentai opening songs on her iPod, sorted chronologically in a 2-hour playlist? Me is a happy otaku :3
I can't seem to find the complete song collections for Dekaranger and Gekiranger. If I had those , I'd own pretty much all Sentai vocal songs ever released, save a few obscure ones.
Too bad that a lot of the more recent openinings suck hard. I mean, I simply adore the 1977 one (JAKQ Degenkitai) and most of the Eighties ones. For some reason, quality took a nosedive in the 1990s. Ugh.
However, they seem to be getting better these days. For example, the 2009 one (Shinkenger) is just stunning. But I also like the 2007 and 2008 openings (Gekiranger/Go-Onger).
Okay, I'll shut up now, this is not really itneresting at all, now is it? ^_^;;;

I just noticed... I made Kai go *facepalm* again XDDD Wow, I'm turning the country's most talented voice actor into an internet nerd ^_^;;;
Not that he's NOT been a nerd before. A music nerd, a SciFi nerd, a DVD collecting nerd, a comic nerd...
Wow. I wonder why he's not being assaulted by geek girls at every corner. Instead, there's just me... *ahem*
This time, he even used the action stars correctly. He prolly just copy-pasted from me, but who cares?
That totally made my day. That and all the <3s he's throwing at me at the end *beams*

ETA: Wow, I think I made a new friend on Twitter. Didn't quite believe that was possible until now, but hey... :D Not to mention talking to a fellow German who speaks English as well as I do ^^

Mixed bag

So, seems like I finally got LoudTwitter to work. Kinda. Tags and custom userpics still don't show up, and to be honest, I've stopped caring. I'm good as long as my tweets show up here AT ALL.

I just lowered Avira's heurisitc detection level. Hopefully, it'll now stop trying to make me delete that evil, evil trojan called mIRC every now and then O_o

Also (stolen from [livejournal.com profile] sorion)...

You Would Win Best Costume Design

You are imaginative, artistic, and very unique. You are a natural designer.

You can picture entire movies in your head. You are incredibly visual.

As long as you can remember, you've always had a flare for fashion. You like to experiment with looks.

You like dressing up in costumes and outfits. And not just for Halloween!

Visual? Well, maybe, but I'm at least as much an auditory type. Hell, one of my best friends is a voice actor. That proof enough? *lol*

Speaking of Kai - lookit my spankin' new userpic ^______^ <3 <3 <3

Uni gamble + Kai on TV

I know, some people will probably think I'm crazy, but I decided to try applying for Japanese studies in Düsseldorf this month.
Not getting accepted is the worst thing that can happen, and I think I'd be angry if I didn't at least try to get in. And even if I pass, I don't ahve to do it. Still, I wouldn't mind having the choice...

Also, a little announcement for the German-speaking folks (stolen from Nico):
Heute Nacht (Donnerstag auf Freitag) um 00:10 Uhr im BR läuft Tatort - Starkbier von 1999 mit Kai als Reporter im Brauhaus
.

So, if you want to see a younger Kai acting in a small role in a 1999 "Tatort" (a famous series of crime movies), you know when and where to tune in ^^
I actually own a digital copy of that episode and gotta say that to me, today's Kai is by far the prettiest. However, Is till have the urge to huggle the stuffing outta him, no matter which version it is . He's jsut too adorable *lol* Also, it's scary how different his artificial "acting laugh" is to his real one. And believe me, I know which one I prefer, especially when I'm the cause of it <3
