Unfortunately, I managed to get both [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi and me addicted to My Japanese Coach last night.
Despite the rather bad IGN review, I like it a lot. Heck, the damn thing managed to finally implant the days of the week into my head which is something I've always had huge problems with. Wow!
The principle of mastering vocabulary seems to be quite effective for now, at least it does work for me. The games are fun and the lessons are not too huge.
I was quite flattered when the game, after the assessment test, put me right into lesson 11 *blushes*
However, I started from the beginning instead to see every bit of the program.
In other extras, I love how there's a tool that teaches you the strokes to write Hiragana, Katakana and, supposedly, at a later point, Kanji as well.
The whole game seems to be quite extensive, with 100 basic lessons and more. The sound quality is good for such a small-ish program and you can even train your own pronounciation!
I expect to come back to it again and again, if only for the Kana practice. The vocab so far is still a bit underchallenging for now, but I'm sure that'll change.
So, if you have a DS and want to learn something new, why not try this (or any other of the "Coarch") series?

Feeling a bit better. I guess some things just can't be changed and all I can do is make the best out of it.
Playing Plant Tycoon (another game I discovered at mez.com) like crazy. Heck, I'm not even interested in flowers in real life! But I guess you can sell me anything, as long as it's digital.
Wacke and Munich pics and reports coming up... hopefully O_O;;;
"Carry me over" will be the second single from the upcoming new Avantasia album "The Scarecrow".
Well, we knew that already.
But today, I got a newsletter from Nuclear Blast that had a link to the full video clip.
Click here to see it (it's on MySpaceTV).
My god. I love this song. It's beautiful. And - I know it's old news, but... seeing Tobi playing the bass is so. Damn. Hot.

Apart from the vid, [livejournal.com profile] rdyfrde also posted a link to a new audio interview with Tobi.
Get it here (I suggest using right-click and "save as").
As [livejournal.com profile] rdyfrde said, the volume is really low. My tip: Get GoldWave and boost it up by a few hundred percent. Also, converting it to mp3 might make sense for various reasons ;)

Tomorrow's gonna be a good day fer sure.
Our fave chain of wholesale stores is running another 20% off sale on non-food things. That's how we got our PS3 ^^
So, this time, [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi and me will get ourselves some games.
He's planning to pick up "Assassin's Creed" (PS3) and I want "Animal Crossing" for the DS. I've heard so many good things about this game, it has to be amazing.
I just hope they have both of them in stock *prays*

Hi thar, 'tis me, writing from Kan-chan. I decided to power him up again after what sems like half an eternity. Thought I'd check and update whatever needs to be updated, to get him somewhat prepared for next week ^^

So, what's up around here? Not too much, I'm afraid.
[livejournal.com profile] yamasagi started his two weeks of holiday so we're mainly doing fun things together, like shopping, watching movies and playing games. I'm far into the three-digit hours on Pokémon FireRed because I'm trying to get all of my critters past level 50 before going any further ("further" meaning entering - and beating - the Pokémon mansion). Also, Diamond and Pearl seem to be breaking all sales records in Germany which is nice ^^
Speakinhg of games, we got "The Darkness". We ordererd the Austrian version, which only differs from the German one in the fact that it's not been censored into unplayability >:| Of course, the game rocks, it's creepy and violent and just all around awesome ^^ The scariest thing about it, at least considering the technicalities, is the fact that in the subway station, there's a TV on which you can actually flick the channels. But that's not all, since it's not just some random clips playing on it. You can actually watch several full movies and series on there. I swear I'm not kidding! I had to look it up or I wouldn't have believed it myself, but it's true. Well, that's Blu-Ray fer ya ;)
Speaking of Blu-Ray, we watched our first Blu-Ray movie today - "xXx" (the first one). I had missed all the chances to see it which was probably good, because this way, it was totally new to me-. Good action film, and I can't help it - I like Vin Diesel. Yeah, feel free to start making jokes now, I prolly deserve it ^_~
Anyway, the picture was brilliant, and we couldn't see any of the horizontal slowdowns we heard are to be expected with BDs. So either our eyes are too bad or those people are stupid. Dunno.
Apart from all that, we went to IKEA and bought a shoe rack. It's a LOGGA and cost 10 Euros which was damn cheap. Gotta say that [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi didn't really like IKEA before, but I think the bargain we made might have loosened his opinion just a little bit. I, on the other ahdn,m love them to bits, and always have =)

Meh. That thing about my mum is bugging me to no end. It's putting a dent in everything I do, see, read or hear. Which is not good. However, I'm not sure whether the actual solution might not be far worse than the problem itself...

Awesome: A Bittorrent client that can do a forced hash-check. >µTorrent = total love <3

Not so awesome: Some guy I really respect writing a review of the Simpsons movie and getting one third of the (American) voice actors' names wrong. Jeez...

Totally un-awesome: German censors destroying "The Darkness". We'll be getting the Austrian version now, which apparently remained as it is. Phew.

BTW, I found the source of my anti-aliasing problem. It seems that Windows Vista denies the function to applications other than the Windows Media Player. Holy... O_o

Finally... Who wants a PAL PS2 with controller, some extras (remote, base) and a few games (still need to decide which)? It's three and a half years old, hardly used and in brillliant condition! It's name is Mabo-chan.
Nobody? Yeah, well, thought as much ;)
We'll probably be putting my old machine onto eBay since we obviously have no need for three of 'em (counting the PS3).
