I can't write another tweet for the next god-knows-how-many hours and just had to delete about 150 SPAM tweets manually.
You're probably wondering what happened.
I was working to set up a new German blog and tried importing entries from my old blog. What I didn't realize was that the WordPress Tweeter was not only installed and running but also had my new login and password. So, it tweeted every single post that was imported, resulting in an almighty stream of useless SPAM tweets.
I only noticed when [profile] rdyfrde asked what the hell this was supposed to be and of course, I nearly died of shock and scrambled to rectify this.
But this also explained why importing stopped after about 150 entries. I had simply reached my daily limit of Twitter status updates and apparently, if tweeting the stuff doesn't work, the WordPress importer simply stops.
What a mess ._.
However, this also led tome discovering WordPress Suicide, a neat little plugin to wipe all your entries, comments and categorizes, leaving an empty but working WordPress installation.

HowStuffWorks.com has a category of neat quizzes. Needless to say, I had a lot of fun with the ones about computers.
Two screenshots because I thought they were funny and interesting:

Doctor Who fans are EVERYWHERE ;)

Educated guesses *lol* I couldn't have said it any better. Or, as [profile] yamasagi famously put it while talking about a camera that had 3 mega pixels which it pseudo-increased to 12:
"Three of four pixels are COMPLETELY MADE UP" *rofl*

My old display was sold for 61€ (about $82) which is more than even my most optimistic expectations. Wow :D
So, there might be another trip South happening in the not-too-distant future. Also... Nah, not gonna tell you that yet since I don't wanna jinx it ;)

Finally, a huge thanks to [personal profile] hector_rashbaum for the Deamwidth invite <3 I really wanted to check out this new journaling site, mainly to see what they're doing differently (or maybe better?) than good ol' ElJay. Right now, I'm crossposting to DW via Semagic, which works just as well as it did with JF and IJ. I'll keep you updated on what I think of DW, though I don't think I'll completely switch over any time soon...
Apparently, mobilcom has some secret phone plans only available to standing customers. Woohoo~
Look at that, so we're not entirely fucked compared to new customers. Only, y'know, almost :P
When I selected my new phone last night, they practically forced me to change my plan as well because the one I was using since 2007 isn't available any more. Unfortunately, st00pid me misread some fine print and switched to one that's just as bad as the one before, meaning I have to pay extra for every text message I send. Ugh.
However, when I checked the customer login pages today, there was a whole bunch of plans I'd never seen before. For some reason, they'd been hiding from me. But since the system still allowed me to switch plans again, I checked three others and selected one that basically makes me pay 13 Euros (about $18) a month which I can use up using both text messages and calls. Ah, that's much, much better. I just hope they'll actually switch me over to that next month or I'll have to yell at them yet again ;)

Now, I just wished the Twitter text thingy would work T-T

BTW, I'm working on a "Cellphone history" page for my German blog, showing all the phones I ever owned. Why? Because I can XDDDD

I also just installed xampp, so I might set up a local WordPress blog and work on a new layout...
- Finished my new blog layout in record time. And it turned out really nice, if you ask me =)

- Finally grabbed "Enson Vol. 2". Remember? I talked about it here and here. And since I already romanized the tracklist, the fact that the files I got were all in kana didn't matter at all *proud of herself*

I also added some claims to my profile. Have a look at the stuff (in the "omake" section), it's really amusing XD

ETA: I uploaded ENSON Vol .2 for the Nigihana community. Click here (Megaupload link)!

I just enabled the link to my new blog.
So now, the old URL leads to the new one. Kind of. Well, I'm basically counting on people clicking on every bit of text that looks somehow different than the rest *lol*
Hope you like the new layout. Me, it makes me teary eeevery damn time I look at it. Oh goody, my own blog makes me cry O_o
Still, I think it's lovely. A buit dark, yes, but then, Doctor Who is not a comedy show even though some idiots might see it that way. Rubbish =)
Also... binarydigit. An album by Japanese indie dance band fripSide. Thought it was appropiate for a geek ^_~

- Today, I spent six and a half hours manually adding 401 blog entries to my soon-to-be new German blog. I had deleted them by accident some time ago. Now, the blog holds all my entries since September 2003 =)

- I tried out LJ's new customizing area. I hate to say it, but it's lovely. And while I was at it, I applied a new layout to my dear, old ElJay. Click here to see it. Black and simple, I guess ^_^;;; However, I still need to redo my user info and have a look at layouts for the other journals (JF, IJ, GF). Oh my.

- These days, Tenchi tends to come out of the litterbox with litter sticking to his butt.
And when I hold him to wipe it off, he tries to snap at me. That'ss so adorable, my angry longcat, with his little white pointy baby teeth <3
I'm sure Tenchi keeps thinking "That's no fair, mummy! Can't you at least act like you're scared instead of going 'Awwww'? every bloody time?"
Uh... no. Because you're just too cute *snuggles black fluffy panther*

- I've been listening to Nightwish's new album since last week and I seriously think it's their best one so far. Now I have another reason to believe firing Tarja was the best thing they could do ;) And I really hope that people will get past all the "Anette is not Tarja" (Of course she isn't, and that's great!) and "Nightwish will never be the same again" (Again, that's new a good thing, too) and start recognizing "Dark Passion Play" for what it is - a brilliant Metal album that expands Nightwish's sound into several directions while still maintaining - and improving - a lot of familiar elements.

What Your Pizza Reveals

There are no limits to your eating. You often devour the scraps your friends can't finish.

You aren't particularly picky about pizza. It's so good... how could you be? You fit in best in the Western part of the US.

You like food that's traditional and well crafted. You aren't impressed with "gourmet" foods.

You are dependable, loyal, and conservative with your choices.

You are cultured and intellectual. You should consider traveling to Vienna.

The stereotype that best fits you is stoner. You're a little wacky in the head, even if you don't touch drugs.

Message from JF staff:
Oops. I realize now, that you would get your confirmation email sooner if I actually clicked "Send" on the message, huh.

*palm-to-forehead* Sorry about that!

What cute. forgetful people. I like them *lol*
Actually, I'd already found out myself. I kept checking my userpics page, and suddenly, it said "Currently uploaded: 1 out of 500". That was my payment confirmation ;)
So. I've got a Paid Account at JournalFen now. That doesn't mean I'm abandoning this place, mind you. I'll just be doing without 100+ userpics and the fancy layouts. Which is okay. Otherwise, I'll be updating, reading and responding like always. I just felt it was an appropiate reaction to Strikethrough/Boldthrough07 and everything LJ/6A did and said.

I also spoke out on [livejournal.com profile] pay_no_more (here), just because.

I think I just wrote on of the best weblog entries of my life.
Hopefully, it won't come crashing back at me since I'm really attacking someone rather smart and famous from the German blogging scene *gulp*
I did it in an intelligent and argumentative way, but eek. I still have tons of respect for that guy, I just think that particular entry of his was a shitload of nonsense.
And I still can't believe I'm able to pull off stuff like that.
*wanders off, still quivering a bit*

€dit: New fuwafuwa layout is live. I still need to redo the whole damn sidebar, but that's another matter.
Miss building-sized ego didn't reply. But I don't care anymore.
Which is not to say that I didn't lean anything from the experience. Too bad it's not a positive lesson at all. It actually made me understand some of the people on the 'net who steal and cheat. It's just so damn frustrating when you try to be honest and this is what you get. There goes another huge chunk of my belief in mankind *sigh*

So I made another layout. It's got the weird version number 9.2. Well, actually, it's more or less the same thing than the other one, it only uses a different picture and different font/link colours. And I like it as much as the old one which is good. Now I only need to re-write the sidebar.

Speaking of sidebar. If you use WordPress, you should try the Sidebar Widget Plugin.
There's no better way of organizing your sidebar. And you can define up to nine custom sidebar boxes to put your picture, various texts and buttons, and - most importantly - any functions you need to call for other plugins to work (things like Visitor's Info or Wayback).

The only drawback is that you have to use a widget-ready theme for the plugin to become effective. But I found that there are countless of them around so it's only a minor problem.

Hell, I love WordPress.
thatI wonder why these days, I keep running into people with egos the size of houses.

After re-reading the message the girl sent me (I deleted it so don't ask), I answered her, inquiring how much people usually pay for her stuff. Y'know, mainly out of interest.
The tone she used in the first note was all "Thanks for asking permission but I'd prefer if you just pay me, meh".
She didn't answer to my second message yet.

Right now, I'm this close to starting on a new blog layout.
Even though giving up on this one hurts like hell. It looks really spiffy.
On the other hand, I don't wanna be reminded of my mistake whenever I look at the thing.
Heck.

*starts looking for new pics*

€dit: By the way, that would have been it ;_;

Apparently, the person usually gets paid by people who want to use her art.
Either that or they just quietly steal her stuff.
Just asking permission seems to have been the wrongest thing to do here.
Nice.
The new layout for my German blog is almost ready.
Now I only need the permission of the girl who drew the pic I use in my header.
God, I hope she agrees to let me use it *prays*

Actually, I'm a bit amazed at myself. I went ahead and sent the artist a message on DeviantART. Just like that. Since when have I been that courageous?

Anyway. If Once the layout goes live, I'll tell you. And believe me, it's lovely ^_^
... did I just say "lovely"? About my own stuff? Eek. Weird XD

I wish this whole story wasn't in German, but sadly, it is. On the other hand, I think I'd be a happier person if I didn't understand it.
Well, I'll try to explain it the best I can.
Anywho.
Today, Batz, my favourite German blogger (Gosh, I adore that man! The readers of my German blog MIGHT have picked up on that ^_^;;;) posted this entry about a German guy named Arne.
Arne is gay.
Which is not a problem.
Unfortunately, various members of his family seem to think otherwise. Especially his aunt.
She sent letters to other members of the family, asking for help in getting her nephew out of the terrible situation he somehow managed to maneuver himself into.
Luckily, they sent those letters back to Arne.
And he posted them on his Myspace blog.
I think those pages are some of the worst homophobic stuff I've EVER seen ANYWHERE.
It's the whole "Being gay is an illness that has to be vanquished", "All gay men are child molesters and will go to hell, but only AFTER we imprisoned them for their whole lifetime" thing. Written in a way that dim people might actually believe it.
Reading that stuff hurt like hell.
It made me want to cry and scream and destroy random things. At the same time.
It showed that while, from a technological POV, we might have arrived in the twenty-first century, the minds of a lot of people are still stuck somewhere in the deep Middle Ages.
And somehow, those people tend to be the so-called "religious" ones.
Right.
Somehow, I missed that connection between "belief" and "hate of minorities and people who are in some way different". Provided there is any at all.

I'll wrap this up by posting the Stephen Fry quote I used to reply to Batz's original entry:
Religion. Shit it.

Hallelujah. Not.

Trying to sleep with ANY website layout halfway done is almsot impossible.
*rubs eyes*

Well, at least the damn thing is finished now.
I'm still searching for more nifty plugins to add, there's so much awesome stuff to browse O_o

Oh, I almost forgot:

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Northeast

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.

So... I guess I'll be back tomorrow with some DECENT reports ;)
Very silly, but very awesome. Get it here!

Today, I finally forced my German blog's RSS feed to work. After like, two years of using Wordpress.
It was a bit complicated since I first had to backup my MySQL database (and, while I was at it, I also installed the newest version of WordPress, the security fix 2.0.4) and than ran a somewhat dangerous script that converts your whole database from to Unicode (utf-8).
But, miraculously, it worked, and now, I got a valid RSS feed (as indicated by the button - damn, I'm such a showoff ^^;;;) to feed everyone's readers with fluffy goodness ;)

Right now, [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi should be in the store, buying our Warhammer stuff. I told him to also get me the Tyranids Codex right away so that I can learn everything about my adorable little space insects ^_^

Oh, and mum ordered a new cellphone subscription even though hers hasn't run out yet. Wait a second. I did the same last year and she got angry? Oh, great =_=
Anyway, her phone of choice is a Nokia 6131.

Pwetty lil' thing, innit? =)

Unfortunately, delivery might take up to a whole week.
jessybxx: (Star Trek TNG - Q (red alert))
( Oct. 20th, 2006 11:40 am)
One question in that SciFi crew quiz made me laugh. The one about sharing pop culture thigns with aliens. I mean, in case of Q, he seems to know more about pop culture than *I* do (see "Spock VS Q") ^_~

Since I don't a manual (yet), I had to figure out the controls for "Star Trek: Borg" on my own. Worked perfectly. I even found out how to use the tricorder Q made specially for me the player. Double-clicking at any time turns your cursor into a little Tricorder symbol and lets you scan people and things around you. And the cool thing is that the Tricorder entries are read to you by... guess who? Yep, Q himself. Of course, he makes his usual comments about some of them (He actually refuses to tell you anything about the Vulcans, for obvious reasons *lol*). If you have a thing for John's voice like I do, this is pretty nice *drools a bit*
Apart from that, you have the keys S (save) and Q (quit) on your keyboard. That's it. Well, it's a FMV game after all so anyone expecting more stuff to do should just do their gaming history homework ;)

Heck, there's still 35 MB missing on CD 2. Dammit, I wanna get "Borgified" by Q for real. Like, NOW T_T

I also sorta finished an article about the game for my German blog. Unfortunately, I need to finish the "Spock VS Q" one before I can post that. Well, gives me time to make more "Borg" screenshots =)

There is one useful thing I got from yesterday's day of experimenting. I learned how to setup a virtual machine in VMWare!! Unfortunately, I'll never get any sound since the program doesn't seem to be able to activate the soundchip in my onboard Realtek AC 97 card. But it's still cool to be able to run good (?) old Windows 95 again. Everything else apart from the sound works. My next project will be Windows 3.1. Cool, huh?
...de Lancie could read a calculus textbook and make it sound sexual

How true, how true...

This was quoted from here, an amazing essay about Picard/Q. I know, the thing is effing long, but it explores the whole thing in an awesome way, complete with quotes from the actors themselves.

This is prolly my fave example: Patrick Stewart after being told that some fans consider Q as being gay:
"I did. Again, I would say this was an impression given you entirely bythe quality of the performances rather than by anything that wasdeliberately placed in the script. [Laughs.] John [de Lancey [sic]],whose work was brilliant on the show, had a kind of boldness about him,a way of looking at Picard that was provocative."

My point EXACTLY.

In other news: Am currently in the middle of a three-part John-centered Star Trek-related series of articles for |~fuwa fuwa~|.
Part one was about the non-existance of gay characters in the franchise and especially the still very obvious Picard/Q subtext.
Parts two and three will be about the "Spock VS Q" audio plays and "Star Trek:Borg", respectively.
What fun it is to rant and rave about that stuff in two different languages ^___^

The company [livejournal.com profile] yamasagi works for bought used IBM T22 laptops. He got one, too. The T22 is exactly the same as my T21 apart from the CPU which is 100 MHz faster. He named the thing "Ni-juu-ni" (Twentytwo). Very original indeed ;)
